do you mean the part about leaflets in arabic? because the wiki is poorly written and leaves out a lot. it's also revealed in the movie that leaflets in chinese or koren are released in another part of america and mahershala ali's character explains this is part of a plan to spread disinformation to destabilize the country. it's never explained who is behind everything. this is why you shouldn't base your opinion of a movie off of its wikipedia page.

I haven't seen the show, but I'm 100% sure it's better than the book. It's in my top 10 worst books I've ever read, the writing is garbage and I have no idea how it was ever a best seller.

every time netflix brags about "ratings" it just reminds me how much money they make and how overpriced their subscriptions don't need to be

I really love disaster movies and I've been feeling like there hasnt been a good one in ages, so was very happy with this one! It was like a more successfully achieved "dont look up" imo.

I really liked it too! Subtle but very realistic in so many ways.

I never read the book so

[Spoiler (click to open)]Amanda being a micro aggression Karen. Rose being the youngest and no one ever listening to her (me, can relate). The tanker. Doomsday menacing Danny in the grocery store parking lot. The deer at first then the deer later!! The distraught Spanish woman. And Archie’s teeth wtf! Danny pointing out the flyers in different languages were disinformation depending on where they were dropped. The evil cabal knowing how to orchestrate a coup from within (what does Obama know lol! But yeah we already saw that with J6).

Like on the one hand it was so much to take in, what direction was it going changed by each scene, but otoh it was really holding my attention and keeping me engaged.

Died from lol at the ending.

[Spoiler (click to open)]Spookiest deer were the night deer imo. I jumped lmao. I liked how they played Rose a lot, I thought she was supposed to be like a writer mouthpiece when she was going on about the West Wing, but on reflection I think even that anecdote was meant to emphasize how detached from reality she was, because that story isn't originally from the West Wing. So she's not being listened to as she interprets and experiences the real world around her, but is when she's parroting pop culture. It felt like a bit of a call out of e.g. me who consumes media lol, I enjoyed it!

[Spoiler (click to open)]I really enjoyed the ways the different adults played off each other, Julia-Karen/Myha'la-Millenial, then Myha'la with Ethan Hawke and Mahershala, Julian/Mahershala was obviously great. I think Ethan / Mahershala was really only there as they talked to Kevin Bacon. I just really enjoyed all the dynamics and the tension the characters revealed in each other. Enjoyable!

I was surprised at how long the movie was, but I generally enjoyed watching from the start. :)
