Second of all, I'm watching both Oppenheimer AND Barbie, tyvm! Though I may watch Oppenheimer first because I KNOW I'll have an empty theater all to myself.
ANYWAY, I loved this franchise when I was a kid, but couldn't remember much other than the very first film.
But the reboots I love even more. Andy Serkis is what made those films so beautiful and tragic. Though I hate that Franco is in the first film.
And Brian Cox was in the first reboot film?? I must have blanked out on his character.
I was so disappointed in the Tim Burton Apes film. I thought it was going to be amazing but it was Zzzzzzzz.... I couldn't tell you what happened because I was bored.
Okay, OP. You got my day/week planned out because now I have to find and watch the reboots. I love those films so much.

He's the older sanctuary guard with Tom Felton! He's only got a few scenes, but he delivers a hell of a lot more than Franco. Especially when he shows up after all the chaos - there's a cut of a close-up on his face and you see so many emotions expressed in like 2 seconds.

And I don't think I cried the last time I watched the movie. I guess because the thought of my dad growing older breaks my heart.
And I forgot how much of a jerk the neighbor is, too.

Also thank you to this post for informing me that there's going to be another one! I had no idea. The reboot trilogy is legit great, I'll fight anyone who says otherwise, and I'm a Caesar stan. Also low-key a Koba stan #justiceforkoba.
