"tech worker"

yeah sounds about right, all most of them do is use technology to remove the humanity from something instead of using tech as a tool to help humanity.

whats so disheartening about this AI generated art stuff is that AI can be used for good, theres so many applications for AI. but how do AI tech ppl use it instead? to try to profit off a field that is already low paying for the majority in its industry. the AI here isnt filling a void or fixing a huge problem, its causing problems.

both of you have put it perfectly. thank you for putting words to it, these last few years have really reminded me how little society respects artists. they just want the art, they do not care about anything in between that.

This, plus they are using artists work for free to train the AI which is just infuriating.

considering anyone can self publish anything, i really don't think this is problematic. poor quality children's books (and books and art of all kinds) existed long before chatGPT and AI generated art. it's not like this guy got a literary agent and this book is selling millions of copies.

Success level can’t be the determinant on whether “art” sourced from kajillion other already existing art is legitimate

Sourcing inspiration from a million already existing sources is how all art is created. There's no such thing as "legitimate" art - art is inherently subjective. If you don't believe AI art is worthwhile that's fine, but plenty of people will disagree and some of those people are going to be willing to pay for it, just like the massive amounts of low quality/mass produced art that's generated by people and machines that's already being bought and sold all over the world.

Still think prompters are closer to art patrons than artists tbh there should be a name for their role and it’s not creators.

I absolutely loathe the disdain with which people view children's books. There's a lot more to a children's book than simple words and some terrifying photos.

I heard that some authors of not kids books are now using AI to edit their books for them or even write them. Tbh i want to see what it would do with one of my first drafts, if it would do such a better job that I'd forever be disheartened from writing ever again.

I've seen AI poems and some stuff and it's not good.

At best you get something super generic like a poem a ten year old would write about flowers. The longer it is the messier and less coherent it is and not even in a fun way.

I tried a couple of those out of curiosity (there are some that have free trials up to a certain number of words) and found them to be Not Good. Not the worst, but also not super helpful.
