"tech worker"

yeah sounds about right, all most of them do is use technology to remove the humanity from something instead of using tech as a tool to help humanity.

whats so disheartening about this AI generated art stuff is that AI can be used for good, theres so many applications for AI. but how do AI tech ppl use it instead? to try to profit off a field that is already low paying for the majority in its industry. the AI here isnt filling a void or fixing a huge problem, its causing problems.

both of you have put it perfectly. thank you for putting words to it, these last few years have really reminded me how little society respects artists. they just want the art, they do not care about anything in between that.

This, plus they are using artists work for free to train the AI which is just infuriating.

There's also the issue of training the AI with real world art to teach it what humans find proportionally beautiful.

There's an artist who won a prestigious art competition only to brag afterwards that they used an AI to come up with their painting's concept. I can't remember where I originally read the story from but that article talked about copyright issues and the semantics of calling oneself an artist/painter if all they did was input prompts into a software.

But here's the winning painting if you wanna look at it:

It reminds me of the art contest episode of parks and rec where Leslie asks Mark to draw something that will win a government art contest and he draws a man on a bench near a pond. Everyone thinks it’s so boring and how would that win but he says that the government doesn’t want art with a message. They want something people will like that’s not offensive in any way and Ron walks by and says he likes it.

This is my problem with AI, virtual humans, etc. Essentially, why all these companies want their own virtual influencers is so that there is no real person gaining personal power/leverage, they can do whatever they want with this VI and just profit off it, same with all the brands partnering with them. They know it's ~safer~ for them.
