I'm glad she wasn't abused.

Me too. And also glad she and Rose were like “I wasn’t abused but I support the women who were.” I wish Dita had said that more directly like Rose did but still, at least she didn’t pull a Vanessa Paradis and defend him altogether

I don't really see any real support here for Evan though. her statement reads very generic platitudes about abuse but I feel she still sees Evan as "the other woman"

Rose's statement was more genuine and unambiguously supportive of Evan.

I mean yeah IA, it sucks that our bar is so low that my first thought is, "At least she didn't defend him." I'm so jaded from the Johnny Depp shit tbh

a lot of ignorant people are out there trying to say it’s his fake persona for business, but I was just trying to show that THIS is who he actually is.

A friend of mine just finished up a full leg sleeve of Marilyn Manson tattoos last month. Girlllllllll... not a good look is an understatement.

It's tattoos of him on her leg. I should've clarified. I've been up working all night and I'm brain dead. I haven't heard a peep from her since all of this (quite frankly old) news came out. I know she's a massive fan and has met him several times.

i didn't like this statement tbh. i *hate* when people say that they never would have put up with abuse, it feels very much like blaming the victims and perpetuating the stereotype that ~strong women~ would never be hurt by a man. you never know how you'll react in that situation. i also remember how she blamed evan for her marriage ending, so i'm not here for this.

I felt the same way. I get that he was her "first everything" but still.

Awful statement. Saying if she were abused she wouldn’t have married him (so people who are abused make the mistake of staying in those relationships?). Also, “incurred” abuse? I’m going to assume she didn’t use the right word there because incurred implies the victims brought it on themselves.

Yeah I sort of get this impression as well... And infidelity and drug abuse, while not always a clear line to emotional abuse, I feel like there is some typically involved. Like you love and trust someone and they repeatedly lie about seeing other people or manipulate you into feeling a certain way about it. Or with drug abuse, if his behaviors that are so bad that you end the marriage, you know he just wasn't like a happy drunk that passes out after drinking a little too much.

This interview and the quote about "living with mommie dearest" seem to imply he was controlling at some level

http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/news-features/TMG3359949/Educating-Dita.html

There is the comment about how she wasn't able to have any of her things around her at her old house, and the even odder aside: 'I basically lived with Mommie Dearest for six years,' a comment on which she wouldn't be drawn. But the picture remains hazy until Von Teese calls from Seoul.
