it's always been a massive, gross thing speculating someone's sexuality based on how they sit, hold their hands, speak, etc. so many people do it. and then people give little bland ass fuck boys like this a pass because they think he's a tortured in the closet artist.
I think this is a good answer tbh. It's gross to not only speculate about someone's sexuality but to do so in a way that implies a certain sexuality is weaker or stereotype it in some other negative way
A few people here have said the same thing forever and in most posts have gotten shit on for it. I'm glad the tides are turning.
It's not about him specifically. Equating certain behaviors or mannerisms with sexuality is bad for everyone, especially when being (seen as) gay can have serious consequences. It's not like homophobia is over just because it's 2020.
And he's not acting like people thinking he's gay is the biggest struggle on earth. He's allowed to talk about his own experience and how those comments have affected him, and could affect someone who is closeted even more.
I wonder if the users who still make those comments and jokes about him on ONTD will make their presence known in this post.
He’s completely right, and it’s always seemed weirdly homophobic IMO to speculate that he’s gay based on his voice being ‘higher’ or him having ‘effeminate’ movements or ways of sitting.
So much of it is cultural, too. Like I see kpop fangirls being all OMG CONFIRMED GAY when some kpop boy crosses his legs but... that's not even a stereotype there lol.
lmao I've literally seen using skincare as proof of a kpop boy being gay 💀💀💀 these fans are actually homophobic as hell & also seem to have zero awareness that masculinity in SK looks different from masculinity in the west
interesting how his story is changing to "im angry on behalf of closeted gay people" when before he was like "people thinking im gay gives me panic attacks, I feel like I need to be seen with women to prove my straightness, I had a whole meltdown over taylor posting video of me with glitter makeup on cause now everyone will think im gay"
