While they did not go into Season 5 knowing that it would definitely will be the show’s final chapter, they wrote the Season 5 finale (airing April 1st) so it could also work as a series finale.

Hahahahha yes
I hate when shows kill off a major character and only live another season/could’ve written the character off smoothly by the end anyways.

Ackley Bridge killed off a character when she was going to graduate and most of her peers were too... like why?

Wasn't Jason the one who wanted to leave? What else were the writers supposed to do?

He did. I'm not sure what else they could have done except have him just leave the universe?

You know I swear sometimes that people who wreck shit get handed chances over and over again. Its like they get membership in some club where they keep getting hired because they have some kind of weird industry "tenure." There was a total box office failure I was reading about recently and the writer has written 3 big budget flops (I might be thinking of Terminator Genisys but won't swear it) and all I can think is, "THREE? THREE FLOPS? And only 1 modest hit at the start?"

Couldn't have said it better myself. The issue is less that they wrote Jason out, and more HOW they wrote him out, between their mishandling of the suicide issue and the ZERO resolution to the Quentin/Eliot storyline. I truly think Sera tanked the show on purpose so she could go work exclusively on her Netflix deal. She hasn't even attempted to hide her smugness over the last few months.

Agreed so much, it's the how. And yeah, she seemed to be so into "You"
