They make $0.008 per stream so it takes a lot for them to see much anything substantial

Nah, Spotify is notorious for paying badly. That's why artists get screwed over by streaming.

definitely, I think that's exactly what will happen. dumb stans will think they'll get noticed if they spend all their money on tipping their fave, and mainstream money-hungry artists will start building Spotify tips into their promo. meanwhile small artists will continuing making fractions of a penny per stream with a slight bonus in tips.
