Scooter Braun's group that bought Big Machine Records has ties to Carlyle Group

Jul 01, 2019 22:14

JUST IN: Turns out, @scooterbraun's Ithaca Holdings, which recently bought Big Machine Records, has CARLYLE GROUP as a SHAREHOLDER.

Carlyle Group is notorious for funding genocide in Yemen, among several other atrocities to humanity.

Shame on you, Scooter! #WeStandWithTaylor https://t.co/0YkQObNmoL

Scooter being tied to anything shady isn’t surprising. However, the swifties, who are being antisemetic on twitter and other forums, are suddenly pretending to care about this? And using the hashtag weStandwithTaylor when talking about a real world problem. Disgusting.

Another layer. Scooter is a kamala supporter. He hosted an event for her pac a couple years ago. So more politics afoot.

S.Braun’s company is Ithaca Holdings. According to the WSJ, where the acquisition of BMLG was announced, (x), the purchase of BMLG for $300M USD was funded in part by the Carlyle Group, already an investor in Ithaca ( ... )

I’m kinda shocked at how well sourced this all is? I’m so used to fandoms using old ass screenshots as proof but this is solid research, and its written so clearly

This reminds me that Bernie is the only candidate who's really screaming for us to pay attention to Yemen. Fuck.

Fuck Saudi Arabia.

bloop, you're right. tired of hearing from people that bernie is the worst over and over again. he's an old man who isn't the most charismatic, but he actually wants to at least slow down the military-industrial complex and reign in american imperialism. which even everyone's progressive fave liz warren hasn't indicated (tho i like her domestic policy and want her to be pushed left on foreign policy so badly).

This doesn’t really surprise me. Rich people of all walks are so intertangled through their rich people networks. Look at Karlie and Joshua’s wedding. You had oligarchs, supermodels, actors, business people, royalty, etc all friends.

Power is power and money is money

I don’t think for a second Swifties actually care about Yemen HOWEVER this is a good expose no matter the reasons behind it. I know big corps ain’t shit and that no one becomes a hundred million dollar thing without getting dirt and blood on their hands, no ethical consumption blahblah but nah, expose them and everyone associated with them.

Yep I agree and in this case Carlyle Group and Scooter/Ithaca are super closely tied and Carlyle Group and funding of genocide in Yemen are super closely tied.

Scooter/Ithaca's purchase of Big Machine Records was made possible by cash contribution of Carlyle Group, Carlyle Group becoming an Ithaca shareholder brought Ithaca's value to over $800 million, and Jay Sammons, head of Carlyle’s global consumer team, is on Ithaca's board.

And Carlyle Group have the LARGEST stake of anyone in WESCO at 23% and WESCO in contracts with BAE Systems builds the planes that Saudi Arabia uses to bomb Yemen.
