The ONKD Cookbook!

Has the show's hiatus left you feeling HUNGRY for some SPN fun? It's definitely left our mouths watering.

How does this work, you ask? Well, what we'd like to do is get a big melting pot of recipes and ideas started here! So below you'll see some examples of things we want you to post in the comments. Post the request (for example: Hollywood Bablyon Mini Philly Cheesesteaks) in a comment and then you or anyone else (more recipes the better!) will comment to the thread with your take on the SPN-inspired recipes. Because to show love for the Winchesters (even Sam, who lives in a diet of exasperation and angst), the quickest way is to their stomachs.

So yeah, we're laying down the gauntlet. Show off recipes of your own with an SPN character or episode twist! Be as creative as you want to be! regala_electra's already posted ideas in the comments to get you going!

They can be simple, humorous recipes, like this:

Dean Winchester's No-Fail Trailmix

1 bag peanut M&M's

Take one bag of peanut M&Ms. Eat. Watch out for Wendigos. Try and convince Sammy you're hunting a snipe-he always buys it!

Here's some with help from the kitchen of Ms. Regdra Lee!

Dean's Fancy "Sorry Your Loved One Died" Appetizer Corner

Provenance Fancy Caviar on New Potatoes with Chive Cream

16 small or red potatoes (1 lb), scrubbed
4 tbls creme fraiche
2 oz caviar
Finely chopped fresh chives
Cocktail weenies (for snacking on)

Bring the potatoes to a boil in a large saucepan, with enough water to cover over the potatoes. Reduce heat and simmer, covered about 15-18 minutes, about the time when you can pierce a potato easily. If you've got your dorky little brother on that task, then you can pass the time by dressing up like a priest and eating your weenies. Drain the potatoes and cool. Slice the ends off and cut each crosswise into 3 slices. 48 slices total.

Top each slice with 1/4 tsp creme fraiche and 1/8 tsp caviar, garnishing with chives. Serve with champagne, especially to impostor art dealers.

Cassie's Smoked Salmon and Cucumber Canapés

6 slices of brioche or challah
2 oz Neufchatel
1/4 large seedless cucumber, thinly sliced
6 thin slices, smoked salmon, halved then rolled up
12 sprigs flat-leaf parsley

Cut 2 rounds from each slice of the bread, using a 2 ½" cookie cutter. Spread 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese on each slice. Add overlapping slices of the cucumber slices and top with a piece of salmon and a sprig of parsley. Makes a total of 12 canapés. Serve to your ex who you broke up with because you didn't believe monsters and ghosts were real. Best served with tea.

I Love Me Some Pie - Desserts!

This'll Fudgin' Kill You!

3 cups (18 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate chips)
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 pinch salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 to 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 fingernail (optional)
1 tooth (optional)

In heavy saucepan, over low heat, warm the condensed milk. Then add the chocolate chips and slowly stir. As they melt, add a pinch of salt. Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla as well as any of the optional ingredients, nuts, fingernails, teeth, Winchester hair, blood, etc. Spread evenly into parchment paper lined pan. (I use one approx. 9" x 13"). Chill 2 hours or until firm. Turn fudge onto cutting board, peel off paper and cut into squares. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator.

This recipe can be easily modified for the holidays by taking 4-5 candy canes, crushing them in a Ziploc bag with a rolling pin or another blunt object. Sprinkle the peppermint pieces over the fudge while it's still soft before you put it in the fridge. (This goes best with dark chocolate over semi-sweet!)

Note: If you're using the old Pagan recipe, whatever you do, DO NOT ANSWER THE DOOR!! And don't listen to that potty-mouthed Dean Winchester either!

I think they're call Purple Nurples… Drinks!

Yay! It's cocktail time. *shimmies* Because as Supernatural fans, one thing we've all gotten accustomed to is seeking alcohol to soothe our pain and make the cheesy episodes (hi there, Bugs!) all the more hilarious.

Gordon's Bloody Delicious Sangria

3 tbls sugar
3 tbls Capt. Morgan's Spiced Rum
3 tbls Triple Sec
1 navel orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
2 blood oranges, sliced
2 ripe plums, cut into wedges
1 bottle dry red wine
sparkling water if you're one of those wussy Winchester boys

Combine sugar, rum, triple sec, and fruit in a large pitcher, mix to combine. Pour wine over this mixture and refrigerate for several hours. Try not to lose your head.

Wee Dean's Spiced Eyeball Cider (for Sammeh)

8 cups apple cider
2 tbls packed dark brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks broken in half
8 whole cloves
24 mini-marshmallows

Combine cider, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 30 minutes. Pour the cider through a strainer into a punch bowl. Add the marshmallows and ladle into mugs. If your little brother starts making noises, time to wrap his mouth up with another roll of toilet paper. Hey, he's the one who said he wanted to go as a mummy.

Bobby's Hat

1 bottle Jim Beam
1 bottle Jack Daniels
1 hat

Open bottles. Drink. Wear hat. Don't answer the phone if those two idjits call asking for help getting' their dicks out of another fire.

So post your recipes, or look for the themed comment threads started by the mods for recipe collections! Or start your own thread for pies, cakes, drinks, chicken dishes, whatever! Who's got the best Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe out there?? Let's throw down!
