Parents know more and Popcorn fires

So this morning, I finally told my mom about Nicole (iraenicole ) and Yumi (yummyyumi ). I basically mentioned how I made new friends with them.

Now you may ask, why would I keep quiet about friends to my parents? Well, it is not an easy question to answer.

Main reason is because my mother is very interested in what happens in her children's lives, even when they are gone now. So saying I have new friends is not enough simply with her, I have to have a description of them to my parents. They want to about their interests, how I met them, what do they do for work, etc. Well, on top of that, I have to admit that I have a fear of somehow my parents figuring out that I am transgendered before I tell them.

I have full confidence now in Nicole and Yumi as my friends, and I can trust them with my parents once the day comes when they hope to meet them (which it will happen someday). My parents are especially more interested since it is two girls I have met as friends in the area, since before now, I have NEVER had a close female friend growing up. I always wonder why that is to this day, but I have some theories.

To be honest, it was a big relief that I finally told my parents because I felt bad about neglecting to tell my parents of their existence, but Yumi and Nicole claimed that they understood why I kept quiet about them. Yet, I still felt bad, but now I feel so much better for getting it off my chest. Who knows, perhaps my family and them will really hit it off once they meet. My family can be pretty nice to our friends.

Also at work today, when I was having a meeting with a boss in his office, the fire alarm went off on the floor. No one had any idea if it was a drill or not, but then we smelled some smoke. As everyone calmly filed outside to the main halls, I passed by the break room. It had a good amount of smoke in it and seemed to be the source. Apparently, I find out shortly afterwards that an esteemed surgeon from the floor overcooked her popcorn and literally caught the bag on fire. How the heck does that happen? O well, and I bet she was embarassed too.

work, family, yumi, weird, nicole
