Rating: PG-13
Charater(s)/Pairing: Ziva David
Summary: Ziva at Ari's funeral
Warnings: Angst.

She stood silently looking at the coffin. Somehow, she had ended up as the last person in the room with…him. Her brother. She had killed her own brother. Admittedly, he was her half-brother, but that didn’t matter, did it? She had killed him. She had killed the same person who had looked after her when she was younger, the same person she had grown up with, had loved.

She blinked, and the from in the coffin changed. He turned back into tat boy she remembered. Gasping slightly, she turned away, biting her lip. She could not balance the two in her mind. They were like two different people. How had that boy turned into this killer in front of her?

Perhaps the worst part was that only she knew. Everyone else thought that the poor man had been killed by some crazy American. She hadn’t told them, yet, that she was going back to America. That would be another hard situation, especially since she didn’t know why she was going back, not really.

Maybe she was running. Even then, she could admit that was a possibility, albeit one that did not make much sense. She had killed him over there, after all. It was not the best place to hide from that fact.

She turned back to the coffin, and the boy’s image was back to the reality of the dead man in front of her. Their lives hadn’t been that different. It could, she realized, just as easily have been her. Their places could have been reversed. And then she would be the dead person in this room.

Except-

Could he have killed her? She didn’t think so. The man she had known would not have been able to kill his own sister. Then again, it appeared that she had not known him at all. That, and the person she had thought she was would not have been able to kill her own brother.

But she had.

The proof was right there.

Maybe she wasn’t such a good judge of people, after all.

Abruptly, she turned, making her way out of the room, out of the building, into the street. She would not mourn him now, she couldn’t, not properly. That would have to be done later.

So she walked.

Title: Memory
Author: odette_river/RedFive
Fandom: Navy NCIS
Rating: PG-13
Charater(s)/Pairing: Ziva David
Summary: Ziva goes to talk to Gibbs to try to jog his memory.
Warnings: Angst.

He didn’t remember. That much was obvious. She had gone to him because they needed him, and not in a hospital room. But she was no doctor. She did not know what to do to make him remember anything. She did the only thing she could do, which was tell him what would make her remember.

A bad choice, it turned out, as it became clear that, at least at that point, he was not going to remember. She realized later that she could have made sure, once and for all, that she was the only living person who knew. But she hadn’t done that. Maybe because she needed someone else to know.

At any rate, once Plan A failed, she had to turn to Plan B. Nonexistent Plan B. Luckily, he managed to provide one. That was why they needed him. His mind was there, if no this memories.

So she sat down. They did not have a lot of time, but they had enough. She started talking. She talked about Tony, and Abby, and McGee, and Ducky, and, yes, even Kate. That was the hardest part, because she knew nothing about the woman. But she had watched the others; she had seen how Kate’s death affected them. She had watched and so, in some ways, she knew.

She also told him how to get by, what to do to make the others believe. He had listened, not interrupting, not saying anything, because time was short, he just nodded. That was good. He understood, and he would play this out.

Finally, she stopped talking and shrugged.

“Let’s go,” he said.

They went.
