I have not, alas, succeeded in my hope of watching all the festivids this year. I've probably not even made it to a quarter of them if I'm honest, which makes me feel kind of bad, but life has been, you know, Life this last week or two and it was just never gonna happen. I can't watch that many vids in a row or they all start blurring into one...
...which probably makes Vidukon a bad idea even if it turns out I can afford it, huh? :p
Anyway, wanted to post some recs before Reveals. There were many, many more fabulous vids than these, but these are the ones that really stuck with me for one reason or another:
Happy-making vids
A New Groove (The Emperor's New Groove) - fantastic musicality
Dance Apocalyptic (Footloose) - so much fun
Do My Thing (The Heat) - full of attitude, brilliantly done
9 to 5 (Lego Star Wars) - favourite vid this year, hilarious and awesome
What I Like About You (RPF - Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis) - fabulous job with really tricky source and very fun
Powerful vids
Ready For The Storm (Apollo 13) - absolutely beautiful, great concept of astronauts as sailors
Black Flowers (Call the Midwife) - yes, it's my gift vid and I'm reccing it again, I love it THAT much
221B And A Half (The Great Mouse Detective) - charming and lovely
Bones (Silence of the Lambs) - Clarice! <3 beautiful editing
Lifeforms (Never Let Me Go) - full of heart, but with a great sense of creeping horror just like the book
Toxic (The Red Shoes) - as disturbing and messed up as the film, but in the best possible way
