The time has come to reveal our
festivids ! And I made... *drumroll please*
Title: Would You Be Mine?
Music: "Whistle for the Choir" by The Fratellis
Fandom: Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
Recipient: Cappy/
cappylicious Summary: The fun, fabulous, flirty relationship of the cutest Lois and Clark of them all.
Request: As a kid this show came on too late at night for me to watch, so I'd have to sneak behind the couch and watch it very quietly. I remember Dean Cain was very pretty.
Length: 3:30
Notes: I really loved making this vid! I wasn't actually matched on this fandom and I had every intention of making a vid for the fandom I was matched on; but I saw this request on the second read of my assignment email (being far too excited to actually read it properly the first time) and thought to myself that I could just watch the pilot episode of L&C and see if inspiration struck.
Unfortunately, I wasn't so much struck by inspiration as an overpowering, all-consuming, frankly insane obsession with the show. (A show, mind you, I had already seen every episode of more than once.) I ended up watching my way through all four seasons in about as many weeks (then the Superman movies, and now Smallville), neglecting my Yuletide story, my original writing, all other TV, and, quite frankly, eating and sleeping in a desperate need to watch every episode right now.
I had forgotten just how much I loved this show. Yes, it's cheesy, cringeworthy and deeply, deeply stupid; but Lois and Clark were so cute. Plot holes you could drive a truck through? But Lois and Clark were so cute! Destruction of the entire Superman mythos? But Lois and Clark were so cute! Dean Cain (although, yes, very pretty) was about a foot too short to play Superman and looked ridiculous in the suit? But Lois and Clark were so cute, dammit!
So the obvious choice for the vid was to a) demonstrate to everyone that Lois and Clark were very cute (in case anyone missed that part) and b) to make it about Lois and Clark rather than Lois and Superman (partly because I can't look at Dean Cain in the suit without bursting out laughing). The song was perfect for the second criterion and, judging from the comments on the original post, it looks as though I fulfilled the first as well.
And it seems as though my recipient liked it, which is of course the most important thing! Thank you to Cappy for the great request and the freedom to do what I wanted with it.
