[ 8/3/06 ~1:30am]
Since it’s 1:30am, it’s actually tomorrow now. Anyways, back at the hotel now, waiting for my brother to get out of the shower/bathroom so I can brush my teeth and go to sleep.
Rewinding back to the beginning:
Left the house at 2:30pm, arrived at dad’s workplace 15ish minutes later. Ditched our car there while a friend of dad’s drove us to SFO. Beat the traffic, and arrived super early, around 4ish. Sat around for 2 hours, doing crosswords, sudoku, and other puzzles found in an abandoned newspaper. Finally, around 6, we were allowed to board the plane (a boeing 767, I think), and wow, biggest plane I’ve ever been on! And a lot nicer, too! The in-fight movie was RV, but instead, my brother and I watched Infernal Affairs on my laptop until it died. My laptop has a sucky battery life. After that, I read vol. 1 of Tsubasa Chronicles. We were provided with an airplane dinner, which wasn’t bad as I expected.
We flew over 2500 miles, 300+mph, at an altitude of over 10,000ft (I think we were over 30,000, but I can't remember). The flight was 5 hours long. We left at 6:30pm, and arrived around 9pm. Time zone changes are crazy things. But going back in time is better than going forward.
We got lei’d at airport where we met up with one of those people who hold up the signs with your names on them. We picked up our luggage and got on a shuttle to our hotel. Our driver was really nice (can’t remember his name), and told us what kind of things to expect in Waikiki. Apparently there are more cars than people on Hawaii-average of 4 cars per family, there are a LOT more one-way streets than 2-way streets, and the traffic’s supposed to be as bad as L.A. He also told us about ABC stores. They’re sort of like a mini-mart/gift store, and they’re everywhere on Hawaii… think Starbucks, except times 10.
After dropping off our things at the hotel (Waikiki Sunset, 3 stars), we went walking around outside. Sure enough, we walked a block from our hotel and saw an ABC store. My parents bought some food supplies, and I bought some postcards, none of which I've sent yet... (procrastination and I don't know where the stamps went -_- ...).
Came back, then left to go to Denny's at 11:30pm (2am Pacific Time). I was still pretty awake, but the rest of my family was falling asleep at the table. Ate, then back to the hotel to catch some Zzzz's before tomorrow's early morning wake up.
