Day 11 : American perfekt
I miss the days when I would switch on HBO late night when I couldn't sleep. I've found some of my favorite horror movies that way. This movie was very reminiscent of those.
Star-studded cast. Bit of a road thriller. The performances in this one are what stuck out to me. Paul Sorvino, Chris Sarandon, Robert Forster, all playing roles that you wouldn't expect from them. And all done, in my opinion, very well. It was kind of refreshing to see them in these roles so different from what they've come to be known for. Fairuza Balk and Amanda Plummer both playing much more "normal" characters, convincingly.
Has a slight flavor of black comedy to it, which is always a delight for me. This isn't a movie that will wow you, but if you enjoyed those aforementioned late night HBO flicks like I do, definitely give this one a shot.
