In-Character

Character Name: Kanda Yuu.
Age: 27.
Occupation: Exorcist.
Point in the timeline: Several years ( about 10 ) post-canon.

Alternate future: Before his death, Kanda was a pivotal member of the Black Order, one of the most powerful exorcists beneath its employ. He lasted nearly to the end of the war, relying on his tenacity, his unerring skill, and his superhuman healing ability to keep him alive and victorious. His rash, leap-before-looking style was reckless but powerful and unpredictable, and although he almost always sustained severe bodily damage ( especially later in the war ), he was always able to survive it, thanks to his healing ability. Over time, however, his overuse of this skill took its toll ( ... )

Special Notes: This Kanda was written for kacfrog711's Lavi; in this canon, the two of them were 'involved', but no one would know to what extent -- it wasn't something Kanda ever spoke of.

Writing Sample for overclockedlogsIf hell on earth could have existed, Kanda would have been existing within it right now. Five days he had suffered beneath this, five long, grueling days. Fever burned through his body as it desperately attempted to heal broken bones and torn flesh, wounds it was incapable of mending. Years ago this would have been simple; a day at most, maybe two, considering the extent to which he'd damaged himself, but no more than that. Now, tired and spent and wrecked, he could do ( ... )

In-Character

Character Name: Lavi
Age: 28
Occupation: Bookman
Point in the timeline: 1905, several years after canon

Alternate future: Bookman died early on, in 1899. Lavi became his successor then, dropping his name and taking the title of Bookman, recording the hidden histories of war. In 1909, Lavi, 32 y/o and living as "Bookman," took on a Bookman-in-training. Lavi Bookman lived until nearly the end of the war, dying in 1917 (just before his 40th birthday, just after the Earl is defeated, and just before the end of World War I). Miranda's Time Record takes him back to 1905, before Lavi's Bookman's taken a successor but after the previous Bookman's death.

Personality: Lavi's personality is complicated. On the outside, of ( ... )

Special Notes: Lavi-as-Bookman is a challenge. It's very easy to be considered OOC, because the Bookman ideal is nothing like the "Lavi" personality. Hopefully making him act more like Lavi early on and more like Bookman as his memories return will make the OOC more gradual, and show more character development. It'll also make Lavi more susceptible to regressing to his "Lavi" persona, especially in stressful/emotional situations. He'll be forced to make this very difficult decision all over again.

- Because of the time he's taken from, Lavi will refer to himself as "Bookman," and expect others to as well. I, however, will refer to him as Lavi in RP logs, to avoid confusion with the Bookman ("Gramps") of canon. If he's called "Lavi" by a comrade, he will jokingly (at first, more severely later) correct them.

- As a final note, this version of Lavi was written to coincide with finding_dawn's version of Kanda. They were involved throughout the war, though Lavi would dismiss the relationship if brought up publicly, because of his Bookman status ( ... )

Writing Sample for overclockedlogsThe October air was cold and dry. The trees would be red and brown, but there were no trees on the Italian coast in 1917. There rarely are in war-zones. It was just after midnight in the camps. Civilians and nurses were all asleep, but the soldiers were awake. Though the war against the Earl had ended, Lavi still considered himself a soldier. In a bunk reserved for visitors, his apprentice shiver on the floor, Lavi stared at the ceiling. Their was an explosion and the building shook, but no one woke. Explosions were not uncommon, and there were far worse things to be fear. By candlelight, Lavi penned a letter to himself. He'd taken to writing shortly after his predecessor's death, as the paper was always there to listen and understand. He'd filled five small books in the too-long eleven years, and was three-fourths of the way through his sixth. The page shook under his hands, but it didn't matter as no one would read the words. Lavi wasn't writing history; he was writing himself ( ... )
