Fire-crackers in the east, my car parked south

Another month! Remember when I'd update this thing multiple times a day? Every day? Back when people were actually active on Livejournal?? Yeah, me too. Seems the place, for me, is mostly a 'hey, here's what's been going on for the last month' kind of thing moreso than 'here's this asinine shit I've been occupying myself with in the last three hours'.

ANYHOW.

Life has been really fucking busy. How do people function trying to juggle personal life, quiet time, socialization with friends, work, and keeping a house? I'm doing a trial by fire trying to figure it out. I've been working almost non-stop since mid-July, which I'm totally happy about. While I am still a temp at the bookstore, I'm basically left to my own devices when it comes to actually working. I know what shit needs to be done and I do it, then I help other people with their shit. It's officially rush now, so there's been customers out the wazoo, which does put a dent into the other work, like getting textbooks on the shelves and stuff. BUT, I do love my bookstore job, so I can't complain.

Also on the job front, I'll be working in the VCD Resource Room on campus until May of next year (basically, the whole school year). Sure, it's only using my work study money ($3k for the year, $1500 for each semester), so that really only works out to about $100/week, $200/paycheck. I'll only be working ten hours a week there, too, but I think it'll be nice and relaxing overall.

I was ALSO contacted about a job at the campus library - at the circulation desk. I was hoping Tony could get in there and use his work study, but the library is so hard to get a job at because it's really such a cushy job, that I'm just going to jump for it and cross my fingers. Even if I do two on campus jobs, I'm not taking classes I have to actually attend, so I should be able to comfortably work both without too much issue. Which would be VERY nice, because then we'd be comfortable for the winter (and possibly the spring).

It's been a very strange thing to have a regular income and money coming in. We've had steady jobs before, but they never seemed like the were enough. Something unexpected was always popping up and while there are some things that do need taken care of (an issue with the car, for one), it doesn't seem like the end of the world when we have outside options available (if something happened to the car, for example, we have the bus and everything is close by).

I've been drawing a bit more, here and there. Mostly just little doodles and sketches when I have the time in the break room.
