It is just after 10.25pm on 23rd Dec and I have just got home from a truly horrendous shift. I have just finished a 6-day run of shifts and I am very pleased that I am now off until late on Boxing Day. It is a good feeling. Yes, we might be walking around in shorts and t-shirts, and yes, it might be over 30c and summer, but it is still Christmas here in sunny Brisbane. The focus of decorations in the city are in the newly re-designed King George Square. The city council have opted for a solar powered tree this year. Christmas day was great and for me. It was the first Christmas Day not working for 8 years and only about my 6th off in my 32 years of nursing. I'm not moaning (well, not too much). December is here so it must be time for the Christmas tree. Somehow it seems to take as long each year to dress the tree, despite the fact that it changes very little. I have some new decorations and new bows this year. The bears were bought when Andrew and I visited the US and spent an excellent time with our good friend John rockey1earlier in the year.
