My 'baby' boy turned three on December 12! Meggie also has a birthday sometime in November, she is eight now. I love them both so much, it is ridiculous. Tucker, the baby, is nine months now. He acts it and lets everyone know it as well. Think of any child you know on a sugar high with no 'OFF' button. At least the dog can't talk.
The rest of my life has been a little crazy.
Since my last post, everything has pretty much gone haywire. Due to my issues with Crohn's disease, I went into hospital on Nov 24 for routine testing, monitoring and exploratory abdominal surgery. Nice way to spend Thanksgiving. Not. The exams and surgery went as planned, but in recovery, I was unresponsive, and unable to maintain an airway. The surgeon inserted a triple lumen access, I was intubated and woke up in the ICU two days later. I was pretty much on a sedation vacation for a week. I was in ICU for ten days, don't remember much of what was said or done. Once I was able to breathe on my own, I was extubated and put on nasal canula/room air. I was so afraid of having to be intubated again that I did all the exercises for my lungs that they want you to do. Painful, tedious but necessary!
My sister and my good friend were at my bedside the whole time. My sister had to drive from Buffalo, NY to my house, then to the hospital I was in, Adirondack Medical center in Saranac Lake, NY. Thankfully, my friend met her at my house each day and drove her to the hospital I was in, which is 65 miles one way. Yes, I live in the middle of no where.
After 18 days in hospital, I was released. I have a lot of follow up testing to go through. I am staying with my sister at her house in Buffalo. With my three dogs. AND her three dogs. YIKES!! Six dogs in a small house is not easy. No fights though, which is great. Some little snarls and snapping but nothing major. I will try to get a pic of them all together and post it later.
I am not working or planning to go back to work until I am ready. I am doing PT, with a cane. There were many complications including pneumonia and MRSA after my surgery. My recovery is slow but it is coming along. I get tired very quickly and it is not easy to just 'relax' and recover. BORING!! lol At least I can drive. Sucks to be sick this time of year, but the weather in NY state is unseasonably warm, no snow. YAY!!
That's my story for the past few weeks. Thanks to the makers of dvd's and Netflix. I love to read and do puzzles, but it is hard to focus for extended periods of time due to the meds I am on. My Christmas and new year will be pretty boring, but at least I am here to enjoy it.
I hope you all have a great holiday.
