That is rather dire. I guess my question is: Do you need to keep this psychiatrist on side? i.e. if they are not providing anything useful then by all means do whatever you can to get what you need disregarding alienating her.

Ideas: *A second opinion from a psychiatrist? You are by law allowed to get this though it may be best approached via your GP if you can talk to them.
*Have you heard of a Complex Cases Service? I'm not sure how widespread they are but there's one in Cam and they are designed for exactly this sort of thing - a case too complicated for the standard service to cope with. It might be worth asking for an assessment even if you need to come to Cam because they might then be able to get you therapy more locally.
*Keeping a diary of symptomology and how it's effecting you and then presenting this in a full/emotional way might be of help. A lot of people come to doctors and over egg how much the issue is effecting them. I'm not advocating doing that but at least presenting the issues and the effect they are having on you forcefully and in technicolour might help.

Oh, and I think I understand the truth telling thing - I've always called it chronically honest and it can be *interesting* to say the least. I manage to filter stuff most of the time now, mainly when it's expected.
