My Favorite Video this year (of my own): This one's hard to choose, because I want to say ALL THE COLLABS!! but since the question specifies "my own" I'll go with Study Room F. It took me the longest to make but now I can't even hear the song without adding my own little Community renditions to it.
My Least Favorite Video: I kinda feel like I don't have one this year. I was pretty proud of each video I made along with the concepts that came with them. Hey Friend has a couple of glitches that annoy the crap outta me, because my friend was here rushing me to finish it before the season finale.
Most Successful Video: I think I am in one of the best fandoms when it comes to feedback from not only the fans of the show but the people involved in the making of it as well. Success as far as number of views are concerned, #watchcommunity takes the cake. But a few of my other videos were tweeted by the likes of Dan Harmon, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Andy Bobrow as well. I am forever grateful.
Video Most Under Appreciated by the Universe: I've said it before and I'll say it again, any feedback is never not enough.
Most Fun Video: In terms of the video itself, AND?! wins. I thought the concept was hilarious, and I was actually surprised it hadn't been done before. I honestly believe the writing staff puts stuff like that in the show with the intentions that someone will do something with it. In terms of fun for me, Say [That You'll Stay] was probably the most fun I've had making a video in a long time.
lolilie is a huge inspiration to me. She's also the sweetest person. Doing these collabs and getting to know a little bit about her was the highlight of my year. Vidding to one of my favorite fandoms? Icing on the cake!
...I've been using a lot of cake metaphors?... Now I feel like Jim Gaffigan. "Why does she keep talking about cake?"
Video with the single sexiest moment: Not a lot of sexy in the raw/carnal form this year. But if you consider Joel McHale and Alison Brie sexy, and lets be honest, who doesn't? Than Eat You Alive wins!
Biggest Vid Fail: Again, I'm pretty proud of myself this year. Other than the glitches in Hey Friend that will annoy me for the rest of my days, I think I'm doing pretty good. Black Flies was kind of a fail because something happened with the volume between the editing and rendering process. I almost didn't put the video in this list, because I'm planning on redoing it but the concept was created in 2013 so yeah.
Hardest Video To Make: Pompeii & Never Let You Go, for completely different reasons. Pompeii falls into this category because of the way my brain fails to recognize the idea of vidding ALL THE THINGS. I remember I psyched myself out quite a bit when
lolilie tossed this idea my way. Because 1. I'd never really tackled a multifandom before, and 2. I repeat, ALL THE THINGS! Luckily, Lori is such an amazing person and vidder, she was able to calm me down and inspire me at the same time. I don't know if I truly expressed what an honor it's been working with her this year. I've been a fan for so long, and just to work with someone of her caliber was amazing. We've started another collab that's been temporarily put on hiatus because of life things, but I really hope we work together more and soon. She's the greatest.
Never Let You Go was a bit of a challenge for me because the show itself is just a really fun show. I really wanted to show a different side of it though, and the staff made it super easy by creating these beautiful, multifaceted characters that anyone can relate to. It was mainly the idea of showcasing that side of the show that posed a challenge.
The Things I've Learned This Year: Quality is everything. I'm usually bummed out when I can't manage to make a video to entire song. But I've learned to get with the times, where unfortunately attention spans have become much shorter. So when making a 30 second piece, I really try to bring something new to the table that will be memorable.
For 2013: Keep on Keeping On. I love doing this, and I want to continue doing what I love. Hopefully one day I can make a career out of it. #Dreams
If you've read this far you were probably born before the late 90's and I applaud your attention span. Seriously though, thank you!
