A Quiet Day

We finished our fifth weekend of Miracle Worker last night.  The man who had played Captain Keller for eight years was not able to play the role this year.  About the time we began rehearsals his kidneys began to fail.  He went down hill fast.  Last night we were told he was in intensive care and about 4 AM this morning he passed away.  I will greatly miss Steve.  I played opposite him as his wife in four different productions and his sister in Miracle Worker last year.  He was a mainstay in the theatre life of north Alabama and his death leaves a gap.

At work I'm taking on some new tasks.  Because I was really maxed out with tasks, one of my great team will now be in the office with me during the day, taking the overflow.  It'll be nice to have someone in the office with me everyday.

Kitchen renovations are moving a bit slow right now.  We finally found the tiles we wanted for the backsplash, but I really need to wait till I'm home over a weekend (no performances) when I can lay an entire wall in one day.  Right now we're waiting for the new window to arrive.  Then I'll order the cupboard doors.

Meanwhile, the garden has started coming in.  The last of the romaine has gone to seed, but the tomatoes are coming in.  The cherry tomatoes are unbelievably sweet this year.  I made a big batch of salsa today using our own tomatoes and peppers.  I'll can it when I get home from work tomorrow.

And I finished my entry for the HP Canonfest today.
