I've decided my car is a 'thing' magnet. From the day I picked it up from the dealership it has had unbelievable encounters. The town in which I bought the car sits on a large lake. As I drove home with my shiny new car I went over a causeway just as someone cast their line. Their hook snagged my wing mirror.
Since then my car has been:
- Struck by lightning
- Hit by a large pebble that cracked the headlamp cover (on freeway)
- Hit by a piece of sheet rock that dented the windshield frame (on freeway)
- Hit by countless pebbles that have now produced three small star cracks on my windscreen and multiple dings on the bonnet
Yesterday as I drove down the same freeway, a truck hauling a trailer loaded with some sort of smaller vehicle started losing small pieces of paper and plastic. Then a giant tube of corrugated cardboard flew off...of course towards me! I had no way of knowing what exactly it was (whether the tube contained anything), and it being 'rush' hour (Huntsville really doesn't have one!), I had no maneuvering room. I just flinched as it bounced off my windscreen. Thankfully no damage was done.
I should have turned around and returned to the car dealership when I snagged that fishing hook!
