Update: obscure tv series quest

Jun 17, 2009 08:56

so a couple of months ago I found this series I've been jonesing for on IOffer, which is like Ebay but with far fewer troublesome copyright issues (read: many burns for sale). It's a Sherlock Holmes TV series I watched twenty something years ago and it has never been offered on sale. Heck, it wasn't even really offered on TV either; it ran on only one TV station in the US, and I watched it. Religiously. At 11pm every Sunday night. Yes, a school night! I was so rebellious. Anyway, this tells you the extent of the "very rare" status.

So, I ordered the 24 ep series from a guy in England in April, and when I got it, one disk had two of its four eps missing, replaced with two duplicate eps. Burn error. So I wrote the guy back and asked for a replacement disk. I got no answer for two weeks so I wrote him again, posting it publicly to the auction site. He responds with the classic "oh I sent a disk, guess it got lost in the mail" gambit. Yeah whatever, like I haven't used heard that one before; it's a time stalling tactic. He sends a "second" disk, which arrived yesterday. All well and good.

Except it's totally blank. The disk has nothing on it. It's not even formatted. Strike two.

Dude, it costs money to do this. You're about to exceed the amount I paid for it in shipping costs, if in fact you did mail the first disk, which you'll excuse me if I'm a tad skeptical about.

If you can't do it right, do it over. You have one more strike before I get, shall we say, a tad peeved.

wank, lies, wtf, fail, watch out for snakes, dammit, sherlock holmes, things that suck rocks, guilty pleasure
