if you did read it, it's true.
I'm ENGAGED!
jason asked me to marry him early this morning (12:18am Sunday, December 18th, 2005, to be exact).
he tricked me by having me open a fake gift: a box of Kix cereal, and 2 bottles of ranch dressing. but, the fake gift gave me a clue to the real one and so it was okay.
i still cant believe it. i mean, everyone's got the typical scenario of how a proposition like that should occur. let me set the stage:
(young handsome man [zach] and beautiful young woman [amanda] enter the restaurant right at 7pm. they sit down and stare deep into each other's eyes after ordering the most expensive wine on the menu)
zach: amanda, do you know that you are the most amazing woman i have ever met? i mean that. you are the...the...the epitome of woman. top notch. i really mean that.
amanda: oh, zach. you're making me blush! (she giggles retardedly and reaches out to hold his hand from across the table. zach sheepishly extends his hand to meet hers.)
zach: i've got something that i want to tell you...(clears throat)...ask you. (clears throat again) mandy, you are my one. i can see myself with you. (he reaches into his jacket and pulls out a box. amanda's face lights up) amanda janet church: will you marry me? (he gets down on one knee next to the table, still holding her hand, taking the ring out of the box with the other.)
amanda: (almost too excited to answer) yes! zach! yes! i will marry you! (zach slides the band onto her finger and amanda jumps up and grabs zach in an embrace as the restaurant cheers them on.)
happily ever after.
the fact that mine didnt go anything like that one made it all the more special.
please note: we wont be getting married for at least another 2 years or so, so dont start looking in the mail for invites just yet.
lauren got to try the ring on friday night. she didnt know that it was an engagement ring so she was surprised when i called her and told her about it. i told my parents this morning in church. they had opposite reactions. i would have expected my mom to be happy for us. instead, she said "well, you're not doing it now, are you?". no, mom, we arent getting married now. and yes, mom, we know that we dont have any money. thanks for reminding us, like we havent already talked about it. my dad, on the other hand, said "well, its not like it's a surprise. but i'm happy for you!" and kisses me on the forehead, accompanied with a hug. he shook jason's hand...and all was well in the land.
i couldnt be happier.
the end.
