Peter took things far too seriously, not that Canderous didn't mind you, but he knew that his being here drove Derek absolutely crazy so he'd had to announce his presence right off the bat and give Derek the opportunity to avoid him for the rest of the fair. Canderous would have liked to say he had no idea why Derek thought his mum's being here was fine but was horrified to know Canderous was coming but, hey, he'd been young once too. (And to be perfectly honest, Canderous enjoyed embarrassing his son.) Besides, there were all of Derek's classmates to see. There was a girlfriend to see. Oh, yes, these were a few days Canderous wouldn't miss for anything.
"Anyone come by yet?" he asked, taking a sip of tea.

It is divided into three divisions ("Being", "Beast" and "Spirit") and contains liaison offices for goblins and centaurs, though the centaurs, being isolationists, have never interacted with the Centaur Liaison Office since its creation. Thus, "being sent to the Centaur Office" has become a euphemism at the Ministry for those about to be fired.
Offices:
* Beast Division
o Centaur Liaison Office
o Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures
o Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau
o Werewolf Registry
o Werewolf Capture Unit
* Being Division
o Office of House-Elf Relocation
o Werewolf Support Services
o Goblin Liaison Office
* Spirit Division
o Ghoul Task Force
o Pest Advisory Board

Most of them were more excited about the field work than the desk-work, and all she had for that aspect were pamphlets. The pamphlets were fanned in front of her in alphabetical order (judging by the first letter on each pamphlet). There were a few on the laws against breading, ownership, and the precautions that needed to be taken with the recent werewolf activity.

The 5th year reached the desk and peered down at the leaflets that were laid out. "Hi!" He greeted, giving her a quick wave. Realistically, Scott had no idea what he wanted to do. He just knew it was going to involve animals. "So...what's all this involve?" He looked at the girl brightly, glancing at Eliza with faint amusement. My, my, was she going to be bored.

"Scott," she mumbled threateningly, "I'm doing this now, but later? You are coming with me to the Socialite booth." She wasn't quite sure if she was serious; god knew that going in there alone was dangerous but there was ice cream and she might see her mum. She supposed it all depended on just how boring this was.
She picked up a brochure cautiously after one last glare at Scott.

Hit Wizards
The Department of Magical Law Enforcement maintains squads of trained Hit Wizards whose job it is to capture dangerous wizarding criminals. The Hit Wizards are not the same as Aurors. Hit Wizards, it would seem, are sent primarily against criminals while Aurors track down and capture Dark Wizards.
Training:
The Magical Law Enforcement Squad asks for a minimum of five O.W.L.s, requiring Defence Against the Dark Arts. They require that applicants be over 17 years of age and "not of a nervous disposition".
Once accepted into the program, a Hit-Witch or Hit-Wizard trainee is taught (among other things):
- defensive charms and counter-curses
- how to restrain magical law-breakers without attracting Muggle attention
A trainee has a starting salary of 700 Galleons per month, a Ministry of Magic broomstick, and his or her own regular bed at St Mungo's.

He was standing near the table now, leaning against it and flipping through one of the pamphlets. Really, they should be accentuating the fact that Hit Wizards got some great compensation... if you know what he means.

"You know I really don't see how this job can be so demanding. It seems rather easy, really," she said with a smirk, continuing to rifle through the pamphlet.

Main Offices: level seven of Ministry of Magic Headquarters
The most relaxed department (posters for favourite Quidditch teams are found tacked to the wall in its entrance corridor, although it should be noted that some Aurors have also tacked up similar posters in their cubicles) deals with such sports-related pastimes as organising the Quidditch World Cup and the Triwizard Tournament.
-Organizes the Quidditch World Cup final and also the Triwizard Tournament
- this Department was formed in 1750
- responsible for hiding Quidditch from Muggle eyes
- British and Irish Quidditch League Headquarters
- Official Gobstones Club
- Ludicrous Patents Office

"Dad?"
She knew he worked for the Ministry, but she'd no idea he was going to be at this thing. So even though she really had no interest in Games and Sports as a career, she made her way over to the table.
"Dad? What are you doing here?"

One one hand, he was excited about seeing his girls, especially Ashleigh... and though he didn't have as much of an opportunity to see Maible, he always looked forward to spending time with her as well. On the other hand, however, he was terrified of Ashleigh finding out about Maible. He didn't think that it would bother Maible as much -she'd put up with so much, after all- but he knew that it would crush Ashleigh. She would never understand being lied to for all these years.

"Oh.. I think I'm a bit young for career day, still," she mumbled when she pulled away. "But I saw you over here and I had to come and say hello. Why didn't you tell me you were coming?!"

It was true, Amorisa still wasn't sure what she wanted to do, she had ventured through many tables today, picking up many pamplets and fliers. Hell was a third year even supposed to know what they wanted to do at this time?
Approaching Lenore, she smiled brightly. "Hi, you work for the Department of Mysteries? That sounds really interesting. What do you do over there?" Amorisa said all smiles

Lenore smiled. She was really going to have to come up with some good rumors to spread about her department. Answering that she couldn't say was just going to get old but for now she'd play nicely. It was too early for real creativity anyway. Another cup or so and she'd be good.
"Oh, plenty of things," she nodded, "unfortunately they're unspeakable, thus the name." Lenore noted the handful of brochures and how very young the girl seemed. Merlin, school was awhile ago. To think that some of the students like this one belonged to her coworkers was an odd touch of reality she choose to ignore- or perhaps save to laugh at later. "Hitting all the booths, I see. Any good ideas yet?"
