WIZARD GOES MISSING IN MANCHESTER

A Manchester wizard is said to have gone missing over the weekend after he failed to arrive for a rendezvous on Friday. The missing man's friend, Martia Knedleby, began to worry when the thirty-two year old Harrison Faulds didn't show that afternoon; the two had been planning a weekend get-together for months.

"Harry's been so busy lately but we'd finally worked something out. We'd been talking about it all week," Knedleby told the Prophet.

When Miss Knedleby checked at Faulds' house and found him gone, she contacted authorities. "I know how it sounds but he wouldn't have ditched like that." Knedleby is convinced something has happened to her friend.

Investigators say there is evidence that Faulds did leave his flat as scheduled Friday morning. Where he went from there however, is a mystery. They are hesitant to call the incident foul play but are not ruling out any possibilities at this time.

Hit Wizards have acknowledged rumors that Faulds was a person on interest at one point, but they don't believe his disappearance is reason for alarm. "Of course we hope to find him home safely," a spokesperson said, "but Mr. Faulds is no longer considered a security threat by this department. There is no need for public alarm."

Wednesday, 3/21 - WITCH IN CUSTODY AFTER DUEL TURNS DEADLY

A night on the town turned deadly for one young man this week when the woman he'd been dancing with at a popular wizarding club suddenly drew her wand and leveled a lethal hex at him. The witch, Maggie Combs, is claiming self defense because her partner failed to admit he was a squib before they started talking.

"You go out looking for a good time and then something like this happens," Combs said tearfully from her holding cell. "And at a respectable club no less! I feel dirty. They should have a better screening system at the door."

Miss Combs is being held at the Ministry pending trial.

AURORS WASTE MINISTRY TIME ON MUGGLE HOUSE FIRE

It would appear that stirring up dirt isn't interesting enough to keep Aurors busy as yesterday several were dispatched to investigate a Muggle house fire. Sources inside the department told the Prophet rather curtly that they had reason to believe the fire, which killed the two inhabitants of the home, was not an accident but may have been a deliberate act of mischief perpetrated by persons of magic.

Wizard-Muggle relations have admittedly grown more tense over the past year but it is unclear as to why Aurors are spending Ministry time on such an obscure incident- and on so little evidence.

"It's a good thing you aren't running the department then isn't it?" MacAlaister told reporters before ushering them out of his office.

MEMORIAL FOR KILGORE AND BLACKWOOD

Minister Locke announced today that a memorial will be held for the Ministry's murdered Hit Wizards, Blackwood and Kilgore, this Sunday. The event is intended to celebrate the lives of the faithful public servants, both of whom met unkind ends in the past month in events which are still under investigation.

The Minister expressed his sympathies to the families and coworkers of the slain Hit Wizards, promising no quarter to those responsible for their deaths. "These were loyal public servants, dedicated to protecting the greater good of the wizarding world," Locke said. "They deserve everyone's respect and I hope you will join with me as we mourn for their loss."

Locke had no comment on the recent and seemingly malicious investigation Aurors launched last week into Kilgore's personal life- and now Blackwood's- except to say that he believed them to be "severely misguided".
