REGULATION AND CONTROL ACKNOWLEDGE SOME CHARGES FAILING TO REPORT

Although they've been downplaying the incident last week in which a badly mangled body was discovered outside of Gainsborough, the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical creatures admitted in a report today that several of the werewolves under their watch have repeatedly failed to appear for meetings with their assigned case workers over the past few months. The department's head was quick to clarify that the lapse did not signify that they had lost track of any dangerous creatures.

“Obviously if someone doesn't show up, we go looking for them,” Glascock said. “There's an adjustment period here. For the first few months there was a great deal of resistance among some of these creatures with showing up. Some of them forget. But the system is beginning to run more smoothly. As to those creatures who are repeatedly missing, that lets us know who we need to be watching more closely. And we are. Creatures that violate Ministry Regulations are held accountable for it.”

Since new legislation was implemented last fall, dark creatures who are considered high risk for offenses against the public- werewolves in particular- have been assigned to case workers from Regulation and Control who are supposed to keep tabs on them. These visits include both scheduled meetings at which the creatures are required to appear and random check-ins at their homes or place of work conducted by their case workers.

DEADLY ORCHID SOLD IN MUGGLE SHOP

It seems a poisonous variety of orchid somehow found its way to a Muggle florist in Ludlow, where it caused the death of the shop keeper and sent another worker and the woman who purchased it to a nearby Muggle hospital. The two are reported to be in comas and are not expected to wake.

Members of the Magical Accidents and Catastrophe department were dispatched to remove the orchid and modify memories as needed. No evidence has been found to suggest how the deadly flower made its way into Muggle hands. According to Ministry Herbologists it is a tightly regulated variety kept primarily for use in strong sleeping draughts, where its toxins are rendered non-lethal by careful brewing.

AURORS SEARCH KILGORE'S HOUSE

After receiving an undisclosed tip last week, several Aurors took it upon themselves to search the home of Hit Wizard Burton Kilgore, now missing two weeks and feared dead. After an initial sweep, head Auror Arthur MacAlaister himself was summoned to the premises, where he and several others spent the rest of the day tearing through Mr. Kilgore's belongings.

An outraged Jillian Hartness, head of the Hit Wizards, arrived in person to protest this overstepping of bounds but the Aurors refused to be put out, citing a number of artifacts that had been found in Kilgore's possession which they alleged made it very much their business to be there. The nature of these artifacts has not been confirmed nor authorized for public release.

Ms. Hartness warned the Aurors to tread lightly, calling their interference in her investigation "unhelpful" and "an cheap attempt to smear a good man's name".

A member of the Being Division of Regulation and Control was sent to Toome, Ireland this weekend in response to reports of a water demon causing trouble nearby. Eel fishers had reported seeing strange things over the past week but it was not until a young wizarding child was nearly drowned Friday evening as he played by the water that the pest was brought to the attention of the Ministry.

The water demon was located in short order and banished by the Ministry field agent, who has agreed to remain in the area for another few days to be certain the threat is gone.
