Hello! I already think you are awesome, (if you like one of these four fandoms, you are already my hero), and I want to state right off the bat that you should feel totally free to ignore my prompts and write whatever the idea works for you. But I know some people panic once the assignments come in, minds go blank, etc etc, so in that event, I am throwing out some ideas for you!
First off, I basically adore the canon for all four of my requests, so any fic whatsoever for any of them is going to take me into giddy paroxysms of joy. Here’s some general info about me:
• I am a giant nerd. Going into wacky levels of detail about paleontology, or demon lore, or the minutiae of biblical history -- all bound to delight me.
• I like: character-building, world-building, alternate universes, zombies, superheroes, banter, and all manner of fic ratings. Gen, het, slash or femslash, it’s all awesome. I love flirting and pining and UST and kisses and hugs and familiar married sex. Porn is welcome, but again, NOT REQUIRED. Should you be interested in writing me porn, though, the sky is pretty much the limit. I like kink! Exhibitionism! D/S relationships! Incest can be awesome, too! So long as both parties are sentient and consenting, I am pretty much happy as a clam.
• I also like: serious fic, humorous fic, epistolary fic, plot-driven fic, epic poetry, character vignettes.... whatever works for you, I can pretty much guarantee I will like it also.
• I do not like: character-bashing, non-con, bestiality, or misogyny.
ON TO THE SPECIFICS.
KINGS
Characters: Jack Benjamin, David Shepherd, Silas Benjamin, Ephram Samuels
I think my prompt for this fandom boils down to MORE. I just really would love more of this show. Anything you write will make my life, especially if it's Jack-centric. I would love maybe something that deals with his feelings about David - if some of that jealousy comes from attraction, if he fell for the soldier that saved him. Whether or not David is totally oblivious or gradually warms to the idea or is horrified but noble about it -- it all works for me! Also, of course, if you'd rather stick to gen, that's fine too! I'd just prefer a story that doesn't focus on the David/Michelle relationship, which isn't really my cup of tea.
Alternately, anything that goes into the relationships between any of these characters would be amazing and fantastic. Silas and David, the Rev and David, the Rev and Jack -- that scene at Joseph's funeral SLAYS me -- or the Rev and Silas. Basically, it's really the characters that made the show for me. Anything character-centric would be amazing, though plot is always beloved, too. And hey, if you want to go totally off the wall and try something dealing with the mythology of the show and something about what God's thinking this whole time, as he chooses and discards his favorites, I think that could be incredibly cool and interesting.
Honestly, I think my long, rambling prompt says it all. I love almost everything about this show. I’d love anything that explores the concept of an active god meddling in the realm of the mortals, or how the signs/portents affect the everyday life of the royals, or something delving into the characters themselves. And if you want to explore how the show might have gone if it hadn’t been cancelled, I promise, I will be ALL FOR IT.
David/Jack is my ship for the show, but if you want to play with the David/Silas subtext (HE WORSHIPS ME, ETC) or the king and queen, I’m definitely interested! Silas is probably my favorite character after Jack (can you tell I like the complex characters?), and I would absolutely adore something that gets into his head, into the complexities of his relationships and his hopes and dreams, especially re: his children. I would adore any and all character studies, or AUs, or divergent plotlines, seriously. ANYTHING. I JUST NEED MORE OF THIS SHOW IN MY LIFE.
JENNIFER’S BODY
Characters: Jennifer Check, Anita "Needy" Lesnicki
Oh man. I would love love LOVE more Jennifer/Needy fic. An AU where Low Shoulder never came to Devil's Kettle and they all go to college and there’s drama with Chip and dawning romance with Jennifer, that would be AMAZING. Or a fic from Jennifer's POV as the whole thing goes down, or really, ANYTHING. Their relationship is so twisted and messed up, with Jennifer wanting all Needy's attention all the time. I'd like to see Needy grow up, or thinking about that post-movie, maybe, realizing WHY and HOW Jennifer wanted that attention. Maybe a scenario exists where Jennifer grows out of it, becomes more secure, or maybe they go to a D/s place with it. Really, just anything that explores the relationship between these two is going to make me so incredibly happy. Total AU or missing scene or post or pre-movie, it's all good.
Movie of MY HEART. I’ve been a fan of campy horror movies since I was a kid, and this movie exemplifies them and also at the same time turns the common horror tropes on their heads. I love how clever and funny the dialogue is, and I especially love the inversion of the helpless female victim. Something that addresses that aspect of the movie - that it’s the females in power and the males that are in danger - would be awesome.
Also, Needy and Jennifer’s relationship fascinates me - the lesbian subtext is pretty much text. TEXT. I’d love something exploring Jennifer’s jealousy, and Needy’s devotion, and their respective insecurities and obsessions. I think an AU of them in different circumstances, where demons never became involved, or where they’re in space, or where they’re superheroes, or princesses, or FBI agents, or ANYTHING. Anything exploring these two characters and their relationship would make me dance in the streets. I don’t have anything against Chip, and definitely think he and Needy are an adorable couple, but Jennifer/Needy is my endgame OTP, so if Chip is incorporated, please don’t make him the main focus.
BROTHERS BLOOM (2009)
Characters: Bang Bang, Bloom, Penelope, Stephen
I would love a fic where Stephen either orchestrated that one last con or was saved by Bang Bang at the last minute, somehow SOMEHOW, and years down the road the Brothers Bloom run into each other again. Or maybe Bloom still thinks Stephen's dead, but Bang Bang's kept in touch with Penelope. If none of that tickles your fancy, I can always always always go for some Stephen/Bang Bang backstory. They are one of my favorite couples (if they're even a couple! maybe not! maybe Bang Bang has a crush on Penelope!). Anyway, any pairing for this movie pretty much knocks my socks off, threesomes, Bloom/Stephen, whatever. Have fun with it! Gen is also always a delight.
This movie just is a total delight to me. I love the sing-song, fairy-tale feel of it, the stories layering upon stories, the characters creating themselves. I love the relationship between the brothers, with Stephen trying so hard, and Bloom wanting so much, and them so dependent on each other. I love Bang Bang and Stephen, and how well they understand each other, how they bounce off each other and tease each other and how Stephen clearly adores her. I love Bang Bang and Penelope, that fondness and budding friendship and maybe even flirtation between them. I’d adore a post-movie fix-it fic, or an exploration into one of the Bloom cons, or a story of Penelope, alone in the mansion, learning anything, learning EVERYTHING. I would love a story of any combination of the characters, but I admit that I’d love to have either Bang Bang and/or Stephen present, as they are my absolute favorites.
Also, I understand if this is not your cup of tea, but I could easily see Penelope being interested in trying something non-traditional in the relationship department - say, a foursome with Bloom, Bang Bang, and Stephen? JUST A THOUGHT.
ARTS & SCIENCES RPF
Characters: Edward Drinker Cope, Othniel Charles Marsh
The rivalry between these two paleontologists cracks me up. It's just so ludicrous! I'd love maybe some seething letters penned between them, or a series of notes to a scientific journal, or even the correspondence of their colleagues, writing to say "WTF HAVE YOU HEARD WHAT COPE'S DONE NOW?" So, yes. The fossil wars! Lots of backstabbing and intrigue and two dudes being TOTALLY RIDICULOUS for basically no reason, even though they started out as friends! THEY USED TO NAME FOSSILS AFTER EACH OTHER. Now they eviscerate each other in print and destroy each others fossil sites. I wouldn't turn down some slash. I mean. Come on. Cope left Marsh HIS SKULL IN HIS WILL, SO THE QUESTION OF WHO WAS SMARTER COULD BE ANSWERED ONCE AND FOR ALL. That is some strong feelings, there. Brings to mind that one Kate Beaton comic about the beloved nemeses. Anyway, there's so much to play with here, please feel free to go nuts and follow where inspiration leads you!
THE BONE WARS. This period of history is so fascinating to me. I’m running out of time, so I’ll add more to this section of my letter later, but oh god, I just would adore some exploration of their totally over-the-top madcap fossil-stealing shenanigans.
