A New Year!
And I am going to try to be less of an internet hermit! HOLA, FLIST, HOW ARE Y'ALL? Tell me about your holidays! Tell me about the fics you've posted that I've missed in my self-imposed LJ-exile!
Me, I have been up to: work, more work, visiting brimtoast in NYC, more work, Yuletide, TSN, Yuletide, etc etc.
I did not manage to finish my collection of Yuletide recs before the reveal, but hopefully they'll be up soon.
Writing things I have accomplished:
Three Yuletide fics:
Covenant, a Kings fic for sinuous_curve! Kings is the show of my heart, and Jack Benjamin in particular is one of my favorite characters of all time. I definitely plan to revisit this fandom again in the future.
Ad Aspera Per Astra, a Brothers Bloom fic for snarkydame! A character study of Stephen Bloom, set in a space AU, because I am ridiculous. This movie is one of my all-time favorites, and it was a joy to watch and rewatch and rewatch the film, taking notes and noticing all the arcs and themes and subplots. Delight.
Errant, a Drive fic for lynnmonster! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS FILM. I cannot express my love enough, and one of the best parts of Yuletide was finding other people that loved it too. Anyway, this fic is a crossover with Doctor Who. Yep. Maybe I'll write a Kings space opera next, in keeping with the theme.
I had an amazing amount of fun writing all these fics, and the Yuletide stress, it's pretty much tradition at this point, right? Wouldn't be the holidays without it. AND! AND I RECEIVED THE YULETIDE FIC OF MY DREAMS: A Teenage Girl's Guide to Not Being Possessed by a Demon, by pirateygoodness. It's a Jennifer's Body, AU where Jennifer never gets demonified, and it is FABULOUS. The development of the relationship between Needy and Jennifer makes my heart sing. I ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO READ IT AT ONCE.
I also managed to post chapters Eighteen and Nineteen of Fortune and Men's Eyes, which was mostly possible due to the encouragement/prodding of brimtoast. This fic is now approaching 65K and is only now really getting to the meaty part of the plot. What even am I. In other news, the glorious hapakitsune made yet ANOTHER cover, and this one is just so gorgeous and also makes me want to write royal wedding fic immediately. *sits on hands*
Further resolutions for this year: finish uploading all my fic to AO3, write at least one Prince Wardo chapter per month, finish my TSN big bang before the next starts (I AM SO SORRY, SIRI AND KRISTIN, I PROMISE I AM WORKING ON IT), finish the next chapter of the TSN SGA AU, write Kings fic. And at some point do actual work for my actual job and figure out a plausible way to eventually move up to NYC.
