We weren't out of retirement long......
Just last Saturday we arrived out here at Sharp Park, taking up the unpaid position of park caretakers in exchange for free campsite, electricity & water. We really do love this park.....however, we have ONLY EVER camped here in winter. We just weren't prepared for how hot & humid it gets here in summer. It gets so hot, that from about 9-3pm you can't do much more than sit, slumped in a chair praying for a breeze of some sort.
So, when our friends Kev & Sue (you may remember them from their beautiful home on the canal where we caught those great fish?) rang us to say they needed us to housesit/dogsit for them for a couple of weeks, we jumped at the chance. Needless to say we were a bit embarrassed at having to tell the managers here at the park that we wouldn't be staying on. They were disappointed, (it seems they really like us - go figure!) and have told us that if we are ever available to come back, we would be more than welcomed. (I didn't have the heart to tell them that the temperature would have to drop by atleast 10 degrees!)
So once again, we will be packing up the van, and moving into suburbia. We will move out next Wednesday (YEE HA! then the only toilet I'll be cleaning will be the one I'll be using!)
Today (Saturday) we don't do anything around the park, the managers take care of it all, so we are off to the local markets (if they are still on, it's been raining again) then on to Brisbane to celebrate son's 27th birthday. He's having a bbq with his girlfriends family, Dave, Gracie & I....probably some of his mates as well. We are really looking forward to that.
Monday sees us farewelling our beautiful niece Ali, who is off with some girlfriends to live in England for atleast 12months. She will be missed, especially by her mum
kearbear22, but we will stay in touch through emails & facebook.
Have a good weekend everyone,
Take care.
Shelley
