Speaker cabinets...

They arrived at 8:00 a.m. this morning. I had rolled over to check the status and it indicated that they were out for delivery. Since they were on the way from Kelso, which is just down the road, I hopped up, threw on my clothes and raked my hair into submission. I didn't want to look like I'd just escaped from the asylum About that moment, Mattie went into a barking fit shortly followed by Rosco. Sure enough UPS was coming down the road. Since strangers don't react well when they see an amstaff barking his arse off (useful when solicitors arrive) I opened the back door to let them run around in the back. Roscoe ran out but not Mattie. I guess it is because Ms. Matilda wanted to show off her voice training. My little girl might be compact but she has a voice of a Viking war queen. She is a sweet thing but prefers not to show that side to strangers that dare to encroach upon her domain. I went out to the front yard in time to see him lugging the delivery from the truck to the house. We got it up onto the porch to which he said thank you, turned heel and skidoodled back to his truck. I don't know if he just was in a rush, or maybe or heard Mattie sounding like an invasion from hell that put the fear of the almighty in him, but he seemed to be running. ::snort:: The cabinet itself is flat packed in a wooden carrier and encased like a mummy in zombie proof plastic film. As it is over 120# and I'm about as stable as a 1 legged dog walker, I decided that it was safe right there on the porch until this afternoon when Morgan gets up. Besides, I need to get some silly cone glue to attach the speakers and some gorilla glue and long brads for the components of the cabinet itself. The cabinet was custom made but arrives flat packed so I have to assemble it. You would think that the guy that the fellow that made it was somehow related to Ikea, (I did forget to ask if he was Swedish, hmmm) but it makes sense, easier to ship and far less chance of it being damaged in transit.

If all goes well, this is what I will have by the end of the day:

It is only about 4' tall so it is not quite as large as it appears. While it could be finished off with an outer case and grill cloth, I kind of like the industrial look of it.

Now off to Home Despot to pick up what I need to complete these puppies.
