I took Perry to college this afternoon. We briefly toyed with taking the commuter rail, but he really did have a lot of stuff so we took the car. We arrived at our assigned move-in time, he checked in, got his Covid test, got his ID and keys, and we found his dorm.

I just came back from a complicated California trip!

I started out by having a day in San Francisco, where we (me and the friends I was visiting) walked around and did touristy things down on the waterfront, walking from the hotel to fisherman's wharf and all the way to the ferry dock, and then taking the cable car back to the vicinity of our hotel ( Read more... )

We went to Connecticut to visit a childhood friend of Ken's. He's a teacher at a private high school, where he teaches physics and theater. The excuse for the trip is that he has a pretty good theater set up with lights and backgrounds and so forth, and Jocelyn wants to try to make a professional looking demo reel of her circus skills. Jocelyn is symptom-free from Covid, and it's been 10 days since her positive test, so she is free to travel according to the CDC. Things are interpersonally challenged in San Diego with the Circus Center and her roommates and so forth, and she decided not to stick around for the last 4-6 weeks of the program. Apparently the people at the Circus Center she's been training with are loose about infection control. From her discussion of behavior of her housemates and others at the center, it has always seemed a little dicey, safety wise, and apparently it was. We normally celebrate New Year's Eve at 7 PM, which is midnight GMT. However, this time Jocelyn was going to her boyfriend's house earlier than that (Covid safe?
