Happiness is:

a) Watching men's Olympic diving.

The speedos. The lithe, leonine grace. The beauty of precision and form. And did I mention the speedos?

b) Sleep.

Ah, sleep. I sort of remember you. Five days of averaging 3hrs (or less) a night? Not so good. Sleeping in my own bed, with my cat and my Boy? Priceless.

c) Being almost done with the graaaaaaading.

I marked 35 final exams today. Five more are being delivered to my door tomorrow. And then I am DONE. The first person who reminds me that the fall semester stars in three weeks gets a kick right to the head.

d) The weightlifting finals, and the track and field stuff.

That German dude sure was happy about his gold medal. He had *cough* adjusted himself right before his first attempt at 205lbs, and watching him climb to 255lbs with powdery handprints all over his junk? Kind of amazingly fun. But my favourite thing was watching the huge German weightlifter jump around like a howler monkey when he'd successfully finished his third attempt. He held up a picture of his deceased wife during the medals ceremony, and I may have teared up a bit. Between his success and the women's 800m finals yesterday, where an 18 year-old Kenyan woman set an amazing world record and broke down on the track, means that I'm ready to declare this Olympics as deeply emotionally satisfying.

And I'm not just talking about the speedos.
