I shouldn't be watching TV, actually. The sensible plan would be to sleep, and finish the beta I started a few hours ago. But...not happening. Diving is on.
The handprint thing was pretty hysterical, actually.
You know when you're on holiday and you SO don't want to go home because everything is coming up awesomesauce (or daisies, or whatever the hell that saying is)? Yeah, so I kept telling myself, as the time to leave Vancouver got closer and closer, that at home I could gorge myself on non-stop Olympics because I pretty much missed the entire first week. So while I'm now sans fangirls and sans BFF, I AM with my whippet and we are non-stop Olympics! Between naps, that is. ;)
He held up a picture of his deceased wife during the medals ceremony, and I may have teared up a bit.
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! That made me tear up a little just reading that.
I actually was jumping around screaming at the TV when Victoria's own Simon Whitfield was finishing his triathlon... my god that was exciting!!!!!! I met him a few years ago when I was hanging out with ex-Olympic rower Derek Porter... Simon happened to ask if Derek was still going out with 'that crazy model girl'... Derek elbowed him SO HARD and pointed at me and said '*cough* That's her sister.' HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I know! It was such a sweet thing, and I felt so bad for that huge, hairy man :-(
And heeeee! Whitfield = one smooth mutha. It was a really exciting race! I can't believe the way he was able to move up from 4th (4th!!!) to snag a silver. That whole last 15 seconds of the race against the big...Italian? German? Was amazing. I've really enjoyed all of the track and field events, actually. It is an INTENSE experience, watching these races!
It was a big German guy, who was expected to 'only' finish in the top 10, that won the gold! Yay! And Simon drafted behind his teammate during the bike section... without that help, he would never have finished so well. That teammate came in DEAD LAST but he was cheering and SO happy when he crossed the finish line, knowing he helped his teammate win silver!!! \o/
Oh! Okay! So you know who he is, and hopefully you can fill me in on the deal with his wife? It brought tears to my eyes and I had no clue about this dude.

We've already established that I affect the rainfall. Tempt me more. Please. Preferably with Callum sorts.

Um..... Vancouver sometimes has a Callum? So that is, uh, a good reason to come back? *looks around for Callum* :)
