by the end of last week, i felt exhausted. it wasn't like last week was extra busy, but thursday came around and i was worn out. luckily, i worked from home on friday and that gave me plenty of time to relax for the weekend.
marshall's dad was in the area for the week and we took advantage of his presence to go out to dinner friday night. i brought my mom along, since i knew she would be interested to go out to dinner, too. plus, we were attending the same WW meeting friday evening, i thought it'd be nice to get a group together. my sister would've come with us, but she wasn't in the mood for korean. that's her too bad, since
sj omogari is the best korean place around. anyway, it was nice to see his dad again. we don't get to see him very often and i love hearing about what he's been up to. it may be boring to others, but i always find his stories very interesting. i threw caution to the wind for dinner that night, since i knew that a sizzling mung bean, pork and kimchee rice pot would NOT be WW-friendly. i felt good after last week, though. i lost 3 lbs. yay me! anyway, dinner was great. it was my mom's first time and she really enjoyed it. marshall's dad seemed to have enjoyed it, too. :)
saturday morning we had breakfast with marshall's dad before he headed back home to LA. we talked a bit about work and school and what's been going on with the family. we also go to show him a little more of the area in which we live. he's only been up to see our place once before, so it was nice showing him where we live. after we walked home, we grabbed the car and drove him to the airport. after saying good-bye, marshall and i decided to go to the movies. x-men: first class was it and it was lots of fun. i really enjoyed it. yes, it played with the timeline as proposed in the first 3 x-men movies, it's a reboot, so that's just how it is. i loved the entire cast and thought everyone played their role well. i also enjoyed seeing how the young x-men related to one another and the inklings of how they end up later. oh yeah, the cameos are the definite highlights of the movie. they were awesome. i highly recommend it. it's a fun and enjoyable film, even if you're not into comic book movie adaptations. :) the rest of saturday was low-key. marshall was relaxing and resting up for his triathlon sunday morning.
we woke up bright and early at 4:30. marshall packed up the car and we headed out to the silicon valley triathlon. marshall competed in the olympic-distance race; his second of this distance: 1500m swim, 40k bike ride, and 10k run. since we got there so early, we just hung out while he set up his transition area. i got to meet a few of his tri-club buddies. two buddies were competing with him in the race that day and another was working the race. the woman working the race is currently training for her first ironman triathlon in a couple of weeks. she told us about the 96-mile bike ride she just rode the other day. she said it nearly killed her and it nearly killed me just hearing about it! :P they were all really nice people and it's great to meet more of marshall's friends he sees 3 days a week. :) this was marshall's first local triathlon, so i was able to get a few locals to come out and watch him compete. normally i'm on my own to cheer him on, but it was great having a group this time. the announcer at the finish line even commented on him having the loudest cheer squad. :) marshall did really well and even shaved off 15 minutes from the time he had at the los angeles olympic-distance tri from last year. he's definitely improving and that's awesome. we celebrated with lunch at BJ's after the race. it was lots of fun. :)
the rest of yesterday was spent either napping or just hanging around the house. after having a yummy dinner out, we came home and finished up season 2.5 of battlestar galactica. we've got the third season waiting for us now. i've been enjoying it so far, even if it is rather melodramatic at times. of course, robot chicken ruined the ending for me; basically saying that everyone is a cylon. :P
anyway, i spent the rest of the night playing more assassin's creed, which i really like. i've gotten to the point where they've given me all the "training" i need and now i get to find things out on my own. i've got 3 cities to go to with 3 assassin assignments. these are cities where i've already explored before, but now i'm in different districts and they don't just give me all the map information at the start like before. i now have to walk the neighborhoods and discover everything for myself. i know what to look for now, so i just have to run around and figure things out on my own. i'm curious how long after this point the game will end. with only 3 or 4 cities in the game, there's only so much i can imagine doing before it gets really repetitive. but i'm still enjoying it and i'm looking forward to finishing this game and moving on to the sequels. the trailer for the last game in the series looks awesome. :) this is, of course, on top of all the other video games i lined up for the summer. i am booked!
sadly, i'm at work today. i also forgot my shoes for my walk today. oh well, i'll just be extra diligent about my eating today. i really wish i was home hanging without marshall today. he took the day off to recover and i feel i could use some recovery time, too. ;) oh well, maybe i can slip out early this afternoon...
