I had a job interview today that went fairly well (although I did notice that my accent has slipped a bit after a year of lack of use.) The interviewer and I chatted about my dissertation, my experiences in Mexico, and our views on foreign language education. I regretfully declined that particular class. The interviewer sighed and said he can't get anyone to teach it. (I wonder why...) I am officially in the pool of part-time instructors should anything come up, and he said that he'll try to get someone already scheduled to take that class and give me the class of said morning person.

Glad the interview went well.

Sometimes ya gotta take the early shift. Lord(s) know I don't want to be at work at 7:00 AM (actually usually 6:45) when I took my job at OSU, especially since I'm not a morning person (just take a look at the time I'm posting this!). I liked the 8:30-5:30 shift at Easton (actually, I really loved the 11:00-7:30 shift I worked at the student union), but I can wake up early for some more money. :)

My father was also a late night guy until he had to work two full time jobs (as well as working on cars when he had the chance) when he had me. Now he wakes up everyday by 4:30, which is really, really annoying when I'm up in Toledo...

However, if you don't feel like you can present your 'A' teaching game at 7:00 AM, then its probably best to wait for a better time schedule, especially since you'll be the new prof. in town. :)
