I just entered Violence, and I must say I generally disagree with the detractors of the Inferno. Though I haven't reached the last few circles yet, so far I've found the game minimally repetitious and, overall, a blast to play. The controls are smooth and solid, the skill trees are interesting and varied (plus I've only built up the Unholy branches this first play-through), and who cares if it's a God of War clone? I played the first two God of Wars, and I don't find anything wrong with another developer taking a great gameplay model and making it their own, as long as they build on the original concepts, which Inferno has - and well.
It's also a great alternative for those of us who can't afford yet another system (I have a 360 and a Wii, but no PS3). I'd certainly like to try God of War 3, but that's probably not going to happen any time soon.
I give it an A- so far, and I recommend at least renting it.
