Harry and Luna - the symbolic connection

pro H/L stuff, and some general thoughts: by the way, the two lovebirds in my current picture are Asuka and Kaworu for those of you who didn't already know.

I do see a lot of potential for Harry/Luna. First of all, I want to point out how Luna can be represented by the moon, and Harry as the sun, because of Luna's name, and Harry's sign, Leo. Now as we know, the Moon gets all the light it can shine on the earth from one source. The sun. The moon also has an effect on the earth. It pulls on it all the time, and unless I'm very much mistaken, if we ever lost the moon, if it was destroyed somehow, or if it lost it's influence here, then it would have a catastrophic affect on the current ecosystems worldwide. Things would have to adapt very quickly and drastically, or die. So the moon is a needed constant. As is the sun, which is the source of all our light, energy, stability through gravity, and essentially, life itself. If cut off from that light, only for a relatively small amount of time, then we are done for. The entire earth would be just as desolate and cold as it is at the polar ice caps now. And the only warmth we have left is deep in the center of the earth itself. So, just reading from that I can see that both Harry and Luna are essential for the survival of their world, and thus, essential in the fight against Voldemort. How, exactly? Then I come to this. In his astronomy exam, Harry keeps losing his place while looking at Venus, because he is distracted by the fight going on down on the grounds. Finally, he gets so distracted by it, that he mislabels it as Mars. Now, really, you can't make a bigger mistake than that. The two are polar opposites. Mars is meant to represent War, whereas Venus is meant to represent Love. This makes sense, since what distracted him from Venus in the first place was the fight or 'war' going on down on the ground. But Harry is also having this problem outside of class. He is prepared to fight to protect his friends, and everyone else. But what Dumbledore tells him at the end of book five, is that it is love that is his strength, and that it was that that has kept him alive this long, and also that it will ultimately be this that is Voldemort's downfall. I still don't think Harry understands or accepts this. He still has much hatred in his heart. For Snape, for Voldemort, and now for Bellatrix as well. And yet, he does not have it in him to kill, and he knows this. If he kills, then he would be just like Voldemort, and I can se him thinking this very thing eventually. So he will have to come to understand his real power, (which is that of love), and how he can use it in order to protect his friends and the world and defeat the 'dark lord'. I think Luna will be essential in this. In both teaching him what the word 'love' truly means, and in her knowledge of how to use it that I think she knows about because of her mother. I believe that the spell her mother was experimenting on when she died was very closely related to that room in the DoM that Dumbledore spoke of, beyond the door that melted Sirius's knife.

Okay, we already know of at least two spells that require a certain powerful emotion behind them in order for them to work, right? One being the Patronus, which requires happiness, and another being the Cruciatus, which requires a deep seated hatred. So, my theory about Luna's mother is that she was working on a new spell that is related to love. According to Dumbledore, all the magic related to this is very ancient and apparently there haven't been many successful attempts to design any new spells using this power. I think this spell her mother was working on could be the very thing that eventually destroys Voldemort, if only Harry can learn how to do it successfully. If not, then I think he, with other's help, will either design one himself, or Dumbledore will be able to teach him all he can about the ancient ways of calling on it. Or perhaps both. It will be interesting to see how such a spell would manifest itself, though. I mean, would it conjure some being of light, like the patronus? Or perhaps, if it can indeed be used in more ways than one, it could create a shield than not even Avada Kedavra could peirce? Apparently so, since Harry is still alive, but will they find a way to do this that doesn't require such a sacrifice? It's possible. I could go on and on about this, and I even think that they might come up with some spells that require two people to cast it, but more on that later maybe. I also think Lily might have been working on similar things in that room, but there's really no evidence for that, except that she apparently knew something others didn't, and possibly knew what she was doing might save Harry. It's doubtful, though.

Another thing I want to bring up is the 'triumphant look' Dumbledore had when he learned that some of Harry's blood was now flowing through Voldemort's veins. Why is this? Well, now, because of that, Voldemort has the very power he hates and fears so much stuck in his very blood. And I think this will attribute to his downfall in the end. It might even make it possible for the 'Dark Lord' to be destroyed whilst the small, saddened boy, who grew up in an orphanage, abandoned by his father, his mother dead before she ever held him in her arms, might be spared. Of course, it may still kill him, but perhaps, just maybe, in the end, he will finally understand.
