Eric Sheffer Stevens -- I Hate My Teenage Daughter.

Hello, noah_whoers! We've got an exclusive one for you. Here's a review fresh from the WB soundstages.

ESS filmed the pilot for I Hate My Teenage Daughter tonight.

Eric plays the ex-husband of Jaime Pressly of My Name Is Earl fame. It's a half hour sitcom so the emphasis is of course on Jaime and Katie Finneran's characters, the mothers of two teenagers.

He had three scenes.

His introduction scene happened in a diner or cafe (either way Jaime was slinging coffee). He had this really laid back kind of vibe, black leather jacket, black band t-shirt, jeans and really scraggly hair. He's supposed to be a laid-back, in a band kind of a guy so very stoner-ish. Let's put it that way.

In the scene, his band got a gig and Jaime was telling him that their daughter got in trouble in school. He said that that bummed him out and a beat later was like, "Oh, well, see ya." Got up to leave and she stopped him.

Brother of ESS sits down next to him and says that there's no way that the two women are going to punish their kids since apparently they let them get away with anything. ESS said that the kid in the wheelchair was let out of the bathroom so he didn't see the problem. There was another joke about helping the kid out of the bathroom but he was already out. So, no problem there.

---

Next scene was that the two teenage daughters had been texting their dads. ESS read his texts from his daughter about how horrible her mom was being that she wouldn't let her go to the dance and she loves ESS more than her mom.

The dads say that they're going to have a talk with their daughters.

---

His last scene was coming back out after talking to the daughters, the other husband saying that their daughters just needed to talk and have someone be understanding. ESS said that they gave the kids $100 to stop talking.

Everyone starts to yell over each other.

And that was his last scene! Brief but if we can all freak out over a 30 second ESS commercial, I think that we'd be getting one better seeing him week after week. Overall, he certainly played his part very well. In the longer scene that he had while in the living room, he made a couple of jokes about the other husband appearing out of nowhere and he pretended to be surprised by his appearance. He did a take saying "insane" in a high-pitched tone and decided not to use that, laughed, and did the line over again. Mostly, before and after his scenes he was sort of milling around in the studio, walking back and forth, taking a food break, and he very much enjoyed a scene with Katie Finneran when she brought herself down on top of this staircase. He both laughed and jumped up and down.

The show had its moments with highlights from the other supporting characters. I'd certainly like Fox to give it a chance and that means ESS on our TVs!

So, write Fox and tell them that you want to see I Hate My Teenage Daughter on the air!
