so this entry serves no purpose except to rant about my cell phone. Most of you know how much i hate the Chocolate. the touch screen usually leads to me calling people from inside my pocket. the fact that its a slider means the front inevitably gets scratched up by putting it in the same pocket with my keys. This particular phone has some issue with its sound because i can play a ringtone/any sound and the phone thinks its playing it but no sound is coming out. This comes and goes and is very annoying for an alarm clock. The thing turns off at random times and for no reason at all; i've literally been mid txt and watched it shut down with full battery. Finally, and this has come and gone over the course of all three of my Chocolates, the screen randomly turns entirely white for no reason (similar to the shut off thing).
The first few (scratches, touch screen) are more design problems, and could probably be prevented with a less aggresive handler.
The last three are all technical problems and seemingly come and go for no reason. So tonight i got the white screen thing, but it never went away. I googled the problem, and found a very interesting reply to somebody who had the same complaint as i:
"I currently work for Verizon Wireless and I've been with the company for 4 years. Throughout these past 4 years, I have never seen a phone malfunction as much as the chocolate. People are constantly in the store complaining about it, saying it's not working properly. The white screen is a very common thing with the chocolate. It is not caused by anything you did, it's just a faulty phone, and unfortunately there's nothing you can do to fix the problem."
Subsequent searches revealed that all three of my 'technical' issues are common among chocolate owners. Grr. I dont know what the point of this entry is. i guess its to vent frustration that such a poorly performing object could make it to production without being fixed. I realize i can just send it in and get a new one (that will probably have some of the same problems if not all) and i also realize my parents currently pay for my cell phone so i shouldn't complain about the monetary inconvenience. But thats not what this is about. This is about a piece of technology that LG spent millions of dollars advertising (you all saw those commercials 2 years ago) and not bother to properly test their product. I'm sure every cell phone has problems, but the Verizon Rep's comments are pretty obvious. I know there is an 'improved' chocolate and i am willing to bet most of these bugs were fixed, but i can't get one under our current plan.
Wow that turned out to be longer than i thought it would. Woo rants. i'm going to bed. Night folks
