well first off, you're gonna need to give it some time to work it's "magic" and let your scalp become adjusted. just one wash with bs and acv isn't going to make everything change just like that. i would say give it time, go through the detox, and chances are that in the next week or two you'll be on your way.

My hair hasn't become fried from no-poo, but it has gotten staticy. It has always been like that though, unless I had conditioner in it. And, a few days after the conditioner would wear off, my hair would get staticky again ( ... )

5 minutes?!? That would totally fry my hair. I used to put it on, scub my scalp as quick as possible then rinse it out right away. It would be there less than a munute.
Leave the ACV on as long as you want.

I'd halve the BS, but keep the same amount of water, or double the water, either way.

I went ACV only for 5 weeks, and found the vinegar (1.5 T vinegar to 1c water)cut the grease, without the need for BS which can make your hair coarser if you use too much.

I'm now doing water only with no problems.

The time I super-oiled my hair, I left it alone and my hair just sucked it all up and wasn't greasy any more.

I was wondering if I should Halve the BS. Maybe I'll try to EVOO.. I'll just make sure I only use a few drops though.. I don't want another coconut oil experience. lol

hmm.... maybe i'll try water only...
So you switched over to ACV only at first... and then slowly went to water only?

Do you think your hair is a lot healthier now?

My hair has become slightly coarser, but this is a blessing for me, as it is so thin. The day of the bs wash, I notice static, but I don't get knots; my husband has noticed that his long, thick hair is much less knotty, and he's finding it much easier to comb through his hair after washing, so clearly we're both reacting in a very different way, which doesn't help you except to say that reactions are very individual. I don't use acv because my hair gets very oily when I do; my husband uses it, and is very happy with it.

I don't use acv anymore.

I use 1/2 cup white (distilled) vinegar + 1/2 warm water first.. rinse..

then 1 tablespoon baking soda + 1 cup water.. swirl it around in the water to get it dissolved and put that on my scalp.. sort of scrub my scalp with my fingers and rinse.

I don't bother with the ACV anymore.. and this works perfectly

I get soo many knots.. And my hair feels unhealthy. Your right, every reaction is different per individual.. thanks for pointing that out. lol I should take that into consideration.... I think it sounds like i'm using too much bs for my hair... Im going to change my dosage I believe... lol

yeah. it sounds like too much baking soda. just because it's a reccommended dosage doesn't mean it's too much for one person and not enough for the next person.

try extra ACV. and do you have essential oils? put a few drops in your ACV rinse. since you say it's coarser, your hair shaft might not be closing completely. i'm using 3.5 cups of the normal mixture per shower (but i have super thick hair. and alot of it)

and oils are all different. coconut is quite heavy, jojoba is very much like our own sebum. and in my research, i've found that castor oil is good for helping moisturize your hair. (humectant) and the amount you use is a whole lot less than you'd think. a few drops at the most.
