Apt Update
So it was quite a weekend in the Continuing Saga of the Apartment ...
We actually found a great place that we put an application in for. We went immediately back home and wrote up notice to turn in with the rent, so that we could minimize the time that we'd be doubled up on rent.
Back on Thursday of last week, I actually made a complaint directly to the owner of our apartment building. He was miffed at first that I had the "nerve" to call him directly to bitch, but as I calmly explained to him I called him because I felt that I couldn't talk to the people who were causing -- and perpetuating -- the problems we had been experiencing (attitude from the new managers, REALLY loud neighbors, problems with food smell permeating our apartment, etc.). He was calm and professional, and made me repeat things so that he could write it all down.
So we went to give notice, and the manager surprised us by practically begging us to stay, saying, "If I serve them (the loud neighbors) with 30 Day Notice, will you guys stay?" We talked it over and agreed that the combination of them (the loud neighbors) leaving and the cheap rent on a two bed near the beach was worth putting up with the rest of the bullshit for now. The new place would have cost us an extra $325 per month, plus we'd have to actually move.
So, we're staying put for now. Hopefully the idiots next door will be long gone by the time summer rolls around and the damn holes in the ceilings over the stoves will be fixed so we don't have to endure the next occupants' cooking smell either.
