Ah, the old Smashing Pumpkins lyrics stay with me even all these years later. As true as ever, and not just in the literal sense -- it is polite to say hello to a person prior to saying goodbye (as in, you meet a person on their way out the door) -- but also as an analogy for pretty much anything along these lines. Such as, let me sit down at my desk before you lay into me for mistakes that were made yesterday.
Seems like a reasonable request to me. :)
