The Cats/insulin saga continues

Feb 01, 2006 18:14

The Cats is still at the vet, and will probably stay tonight as well. For unknown reasons the insulin they gave him is still in his system, and it's not safe to take him off the glucose drip until it's all cleared. We're going to visit him tonight, and maybe try to get him to eat something too, since he's not eating. Once he gets out we will probably keep him home for several days and try to relax him, then he'll have to go back and try this whole thing all over again.

See here for more info.

[Edit: We went over to visit the Cats, bring his other meds and try and get him to relax/eat. Just as they went to get him for us he got hungry, so they let him eat for a few. He paced around the exam room for half an hour before relaxing and trying to burrow into our coats. The IV boot on his paw was really bugging him but they didn't want to take it out in case it needs to go back in tomorrow. He was on the glucose drip until 1pm or so today. We decided to let him stay overnight and they will try again tomorrow, with a much lower dose of insulin. They had given him 5 units on Tuesday morning; tomorrow they will try 1 unit, and 1 more in the afternoon if his glucose is still high. With any luck at all we will be able to bring him home tomorrow.]
