hoodia gordonii

I think I figured out why I was weirdly "OMG FULL!" last night; I think it was the hoodia gordonii extract. It's being sold as an appetite suppressant for weight loss, but malabar noticed increased energy from it, so I'm giving it a try. I didn't notice anything until I worked up to ~1.8g/day. I'm still not noticing any energizing effects from it, but last night I found myself feeling MUCH fuller than I should have based on what I had for dinner. The fullness also lasted many hours longer than it should have. It *felt* like my stomach was physically full, but after a few hours I noticed my stomach was growling so it must have been empty. Even then I wasn't hungry. Later I ate a little more, simply because I'd had so little to eat and knew I should, but it felt like I was forcing the food down. I had to take small bites, eat very slowly and drink lots.

In retrospect I had similar but much weaker effects at a lower dose of ~1.2g/day, but I didn't think anything of them at the time.

The product I'm using is a powdered extract from http://www.bulknutrition.com Totally unscientific reviews on their site suggest hoodia works very well for some people and not at all for others. Take that FWIW.

I don't know if I will keep taking it right now. I'd been hoping for the energizing effects, not appetite suppression. If anything I need to be *hungrier* earlier in the day, and less hungry later on. Also when I do diet I rarely have problems with hunger. I certainly *need* to diet, but haven't wanted to lately because it usually kills my mood, brain meds notwithstanding. My mood was fine yesterday despite barely eating so maybe the hoodia helped in that respect, but I'd have to go for at least a week to be sure. I usually feel my mood change on the first or second day of dieting, but it can take a week or so for the full mood-killing effects to set in.
