Had a good week, and quite busy.
Tuesday was the first day I worked out of an office. It was basically for a nice pizza party, catching up/meeting with my co-workers, a staff meeting and getting the stuff that's been in my car trunk up to my desk and setting things up. That was really nice- I forgot how much I miss people. I'll still be working primarily from home but that was a nice change of pace.
The week started out pretty cold. Last weekend it was 80s, I actually brought my plants outside. Had to get them in Wednesday, with temperatures dipping below freezing. Northeast Ohio- gotta love it! Plan to get them back outside tomorrow, and this time it looks like I'll be able to leave them out for the spring/summer. Longterm forecasts are showing solid 60s and low 70s and, more important, mid-40s and 50s for lows. THAT'S what matters.
COVID cases have been creeping back up. I have a feeling even if numbers get as high as last year it will be difficult to implement any measures to curb it.
Also, I finished a book...
Bluebeard, by Kurt Vonnegut. This might be my favorite Vonnegut book, excepting maybe Slaughterhouse-Five. It's written as the autobiography of an eccentric artist who constantly flips back and forth from his storied past to his, until recently, quiet present. There was only one point where I got a bit confused as to when the action took place, otherwise the time jumps were well-handled. The book is fiction but Vonnegut does weave some historical figures and artists in this tale. Bluebeard is classic Vonnegut- eclectic, thoughtful, slightly off-beat and delightful. The best part is the ending. Throughout the book it is hinted that our protagonist, an Armenian artist and former war veteran, has something fascinating and mysterious tucked away in an old, converted potato barn. It is tough to build up something like this without the reveal being anticlimactic, but Vonnegut pulls it off.
Currently reading: Mirror's Edge, by Scott Westerfeld. Started yesterday, already more than a third through it!
