My Grandma Pat died yesterday morning. It wasn't unexpected, I think a part of her died when Grandpa died. Also, she had a lot of health problems that were really starting to impact her quality of life. The last two times I called, she couldn't talk to me, physically. Still, it's a sad milestone for me- she was my last grandparent. Still, I'm incredibly fortunate. Of my five grandparents, I had four of them well into adulthood. My Grandma Helms died the summer of my fourth grade year. But Grandma Jones died in 2015, when I was 41. My Grandpa Helms died the following year in December. Grandpa Jones died this past spring. Many people can't say that.
I spent much of yesterday at my parents' house. I needed that, the hugs, the conversation, watching Hamilton again, enjoying dinner together, dad and I "dancing" on the couch to Staying Alive while watching an old Bee Gees concert recording on PBS. There won't be the typical family gathering at Thanksgiving this year- and it might not happen again given the size of our family now lol - but I am grateful I can go to my parents' house this year. Last year just really sucked.
Got my COVID booster shot on Friday. While waiting, I struck up a conversation with a really nice lady who also had been waiting. Bonus- she knew one of my aunts! Small world- but then again, if you take me, mom and all of my aunts we probably know just about everyone in Summit County, ha ha!
We had our first significant snowfall today. Mom and I went swimming this afternoon (swam for more than an hour!), and as much as I detest snow I admit it was kind of neat watching it fall outside the Natatorium windows, especially since a lot of trees still have their leaves. There was one tree with bright red leaves, and the white snow falling around it was lovely. We probably have about an inch on the ground now (northeast is expected to get a good deal more) but it isn't expected to last. We may get some more snow tomorrow, then it's supposed to warm up. It will probably be all gone around here by the end of the day Tuesday, or Wednesday at the latest.
This week of staycation just flew by- they always do. Back to work tomorrow!
