I walk the Walk of the Righteous today, for I have exercised. My shiny new heart rate monitor tells me I burned 677 calories this morning, my first trip back to my gym in weeks.
of_new_horizons is my new workout buddy, which played a large role in me actually going this morning. I have lured her to my gym and we're going to make sure we both actually show up. Next workout is Wednesday night. Hear that, everyone? Ask me how my workout went on Thursday morning.
It did feel awfully good. We did 30 minutes on the elliptical and then my usual round of weightlifting, with only 2 sets instead of 3. I got sweaty! I haven't gotten workout-sweaty in awhile. It was very satisfying. It felt good to use my body instead of just unthinkingly riding around in it, like I usually do. And I haven't lost much of my strength - I only had to go down a little on each lift from where I left off last time. Unshockingly, I'm pretty much exactly the same weight. I'd like to just forget the scale all together, since it never moves whether I'm fit or not, but that's tough to do, mentally.
I need to read through my heart rate monitor's instruction manual again and figure out how to turn off the beeping when I go over a certain heart rate. Or figure out how to raise that heart rate limit! I was pressing a lot of random buttons when I started today, and I think I messed up the initial calibration of the unit. If I don't redo the calibration, I'm going to keep feeling like a ticking bomb (it gets faster the higher you go, which feels sort of urgent after awhile).
I also walk the Walk of the Still-Wet-Haired and Slightly-Late-for-Work. I'm going to need to get up a little earlier, or work out a little faster next week. Or, and this is a crazy notion, the Madison Metro bus system could be on time! Just kidding. I'll take an earlier bus, of course, and just wait out the extra 15 minutes before my shift.
Must remember to pick up a new bus pass after work. I realized mine was expired approximately two seconds before I got on the bus today, but the driver let me on with no complaint. He was a lot nicer than the lady last semester (okay, yes, this isn't the first time I've tried to use my expired bus pass). Because I can never remember the URL for the Metro, I always Google it and go from there. Google tells me I've visited it 76 times. Interesting.
Lastly, I walk the Walk of the Laptop-Less. I lugged it (and a stack of CDs for ripping) allllll the way here to the lab only to remember the power cord cheerfully sitting on my bedroom floor. Curses! And I only had 20 minutes left on the battery. I am resourceful, however. I am ripping the stack of CDs onto the lab computer, and I will copy those files onto my iPod as data files, then import them into iTunes when I get home. Voila. If Apple didn't have its head up its , I could just load them onto my iPod straight out and copy them from my iPod to my laptop when I get home. Anyway.
